Despite the parting ways of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza as a love team (called AlDub), they still show each other their support.
During the media conference of Hello, Love, Goodbye, the Pambansang Bae revealed that he still gives his all-out support to his former on-screen partner, Maine, especially now that she is going to do a film project under Black Sheep Entertainment opposite Carlo Aquino.
He also admitted that he is happy for the actress now that she is exploring her acting skills by doing movie projects.
He said, “I’m really happy that Maine is exploring acting with a different partner now and doing movie projects alone. Kasi when we were working together, nakukuwento niya sa akin na she’s really having a hard time when it comes to acting.”
For Alden, it’s time that the Phenomenal Star break out of her comfort zone and conquer whatever tries to hold her back.
“Full support naman kami, sinusuportahan namin ang isa’t isa kapag gumagawa kami ng projects together. Pero now, ito ‘yung time ni Maine to break out of that fear and conquer kung ano man ang mga nagho-hold back sa kanya,” the actor stated.
Maine and Alden’s AlDub love team was born in the Kalyeserye portion of Juan For All, All for Juan segment of Eat Bulaga in 2015. Their “nakakakilig” tandem was openly welcomed and loved by fans especially senior citizens, who called themselves AlDub Nation.

After their Kalyeserye stints, the AlDub tandem starred in two films, My Bebe Love in 2015 and You And Me in 2016. They also became endorsers of different brands and products such as Talk N Text, and McDonald’s.
Their popularity earned them several awards including Most Popular Breakout Love Team of the Year, Favorite Group or Tandem, Most Phenomenal and Most Popular Love Team of 2016, Celebrity Pair of the Year, Advertiser’s Most Admired LoveTeam, and Most Influential Male and Female Celebrity Endorser of the Year.
Their love team was even recognized by Guinness World Records as record-breaker in Twitter history after generating a total of 40,706,392 tweets for their “Tamang Panahon” benefit concert at the Philippine Arena on October 2015.
The success of the AlDub tandem had contributed to the careers of Alden and Maine. It became their stepping stone to where they are now.
But in spite of the success of AlDub, their loveteam didn’t last.
It was in 2017 when Maine wrote an open letter to AlDub fans. In her letter, she asked for freedom—something she didn’t feel any more since people tried to control her as to what she has to say or feel. She also admitted that she wasn’t happy anymore.
Her open letter earned different reactions from the netizens, especially from the AlDub Nation who supported them all the way.
Some even accused the Pambansang Bae of being the reason Maine ended up writing the letter.
As of the moment, Alden and Maine are still part of the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga despite their separate projects.
Alden’s upcoming film “Hello, Love, Goodbye” with Kathryn Bernardo is set to premiere on July 31.
Maine, on the other hand, is gearing up for an upcoming big screen project Isa Pa With Feelings under Black Sheep Entertainment, alongside Carlo Aquino. The release date will be before the year ends.
