- Megastar Sharon Cuneta took to social media to express her anger towards the death of Eddie Garcia
- Cuneta blames the absence of medics and the neglect of the safety of the actors that led to Garcia’s passing
- The Megastar revised her posts after her attention was called for her “harsh comments”
The death of award-winning actor Eddie Garcia has deeply affected not just his family but also the stars he worked with in showbiz. His death earned various reactions from both fans and co-workers in showbiz, especially given the circumstances of his death from an accident he had on the set.
One of the people who ranted over Garcia’s passing was Megastar Sharon Cuneta. She expressed her sentiments and rage through her social media accounts. According to her, Manoy Eddie could have lived longer if only there was no “neglect of safety for the actors” that led to his death.
On her Instagram account she wrote, “HE SHOULD NOT HAVE DIED YET.
“HAD THERE BEEN NO NEGLECT OF SAFETY FOR THE ACTORS, HE WOULD HAVE LIVED TO MORE THAN 100…!!!
“I have had not only a professional relationship but a personal one with him as well.
“I grew up under his tutelage and he means so much to me.
“Sorry if I’m venting but this was totally unavoidable.
“Especially for an actor who was 90 years old…
“It is a matter of a few people who failed to be 100% careful and were negligent.
“I do not mean to say a whole organization or station should be blamed – this is an issue I do not wish to be involved with but for his family and co-workers on that day to debate on and argue about.
“BUT I AM ANGRY BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE TOTALLY BEEN AVOIDED.”
She ended her post with, “Thank you for this, @iamnoelferrer. This is the way I will remember him too. Or better yet, as April’s Papa in Dear Heart…”
Many netizens agreed with Cuneta and even applauded her opinions. However, there were also some who didn’t like the way she constructed her thoughts and the way she ranted without even thinking twice if her words were too mean.
But, the Megastar stood her ground and defended her posts.
She said that she’s not sorry for what she said no matter how harsh they appeared. It was just because she was hurt and she loved Garcia whom she had known since she was just a kid.
She also pointed out that had it been a set at the other station, the medics would be always ready and safety measures would have been in place.
Cuneta edited her posts afterwards and came up with a calmer message.
On Facebook and Instagram, her edited post read (published as is): “(For ‘World Peace,’ I edited this. I am grieving. Let me be.) Thank you for this, @iamnoelferrer. This is the way I will remember him too. Or better yet, as April’s Papa in Dear Heart…”

Aside from this, Cuneta also posted a screenshot of her scene with Garcia in the movie Dear Heart where he played the role of Cuneta’s father. The movie was also the launching movie of Megastar and Gabby Concepcion in 1981.
Her post reads, “I will miss you, my Papa…I will love you forever. Your baby girl, April. (“Dear Heart.” 1981.)”

Before this, Cuneta posted her sentiments on Instagram after learning of the passing of ‘Papa Eddie’.
Cuneta posted, “I just saw this…My dear God, it is so hard to accept this…I love you, my Direk, my Tito Eddie…
“Thank you for all that you gave me, us…It is truly the end of an era.
“Mahal na mahal ko po kayo…May you rest in God’s arms and we, those who have had the privilege of working with you, shall remember all that you stand for, and do our best to keep your legacy alive, because you have made us all a part of it… My heart is broken…”
