- Betita posted on Twitter an apology to the fans of Reid
Former beauty queen Maria Patricia “Patty” Betita has released an apology to the fans of James Reid who have been attacking her for comparing Reid to Daniel Padilla.
It all started when Betita posted on her Instagram account a photo of herself and other beauty queens with Daniel Padilla. She even wrote a caption saying, “The highlight of my night was this moment with @supremo_dp #FANmode #mga tita #BbPilipinas2019
#beyondbeauty.”
On her other post, the beauty queen-model compared Padilla and James Reid claiming that the former is much nicer and more accommodating than the latter. Padilla and Reid were both judges at the recently concluded Binibining Pilipinas 2019 coronation night held at Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, on June 9.
“Btw… Daniel Padilla is much nicer and more accommodating than James Reid #fortherecord.”
One netizen commented on her post and said she hoped to have a picture with James and Nadine Lustre some day. Betita replied to this with, “Hindi siya friendly!”
With her IG account on private, there were netizens who took the chance to screenshot her post and spread it on Twitter.
Upon reading her comment, fans of Reid and JaDine became furious and called the attention of Betita.

Respect begets respect. Okay. Did James disrespected you? See how much disrepect he/they got because of your “careless comment” Did you come to him and ask for a picture and he declined? Even yes, what’s so unfriendly and disrespectful with that? Hay people talaga. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

James is a good man. One failed photo op cannot change that. Shame on you @pattybetita for giving a chance for others to bash James.

To compare is okay, but it goes with a sense of responsibility and ethicality, especially when done via the social media. Otherwise, just keep it to yourself and perhaps, to your inner circle.

This issue gained mixed reactions from netizens with some believing what she did is wrong and some admiring her for her raw observation.

But @pattybetita may have had a different experience. You can’t force your opinion on other people. Obviously she felt disrespected by the refusal and it is her right to say something about that. Stop treating your idols like gods and accept that not everyone adores them.

Most of the hate Betita received are coming from Reid’s fans.
Understanding the weight of her actions, Betita took to Twitter to apologize sincerely to the fans that she offended.
On her Twitter account she posted, “I didn’t realize the gravity of what I thought was just my opinion… obviously made so many #Jadine fans seething with anger attacking me. Ok, I sincerely apologize if I hurt your feelings. I judged an innocent guy and made a careless comment…”
She also thanked the people who personally messaged her and asked to make an apology. Her tweet reads, “Respect begets respect. Thank you to the others who personally messaged me and encouraged me to just come out on Twitter where I guess the #fortherecord was created alluding to me and humbly apologize. So there… [peace] everyone and God Bless us all.”
Betita is a follower of Reid on Instagram so it means that she is most likely a fan of the Kapamilya star.
