- Days are numbered for GMA Network’s Kara Mia
- Kara Mia has rated poorly from the very beginning, even in data from GMA Network’s ratings provider NUTAM
GMA Network’s Kara Mia of Barbie Forteza and Mika dela Cruz is nearing its final chapter on the primetime block. The series premiered last February 18, 2019 as part of the network’s Telebabad line up replacing Cain at Abel.
It is a drama-action series directed by Dominic Zapata.
“Umabot na sa sukdulan ang kanilang galit. Aabot na rin ba sa sukdulan ang pag-aaway ng magkapatid?Abangan ang nalalapit na pagtatapos ng #KaraMia!” That’s how GMA Network teased their viewers based on the latest promo of their primetime show Kara Mia.
Kara Mia is based on a true story from India and an urban legend from Great Britain. Kara (Barbie) and Mia (Mika) were born with Diprosopus or craniofacial duplication, a congenital defect where they have two faces but share only one body. Kara’s face is in front, while Mia’s is at the back. Little do they know that they are the children of a mystical being who is watching over them as the twin sisters grow up. The origin of this condition, which is one of the rarest malformations in humans, is still unexplained, whether it is mythical or medical.
The show initially made lots of buzz on social media for its various parodies and memes, making the Kapuso Network confident with their promotional efforts.

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano continues to be the leader in the ratings game nationwide, according to Kantar Media and even in NUTAM. Whether it is a remake of a telenovela, a pair of light-hearted dramas, or a series of fantasy and action programs, all of them were unable to topple Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin) and his gang from dominating the primetime block.
For more than three years, the Coco Martin-starrer was able to beat 14 Kapuso shows which include Cain at Abel, Victor Magtanggol, The Cure, Sherlock Jr., Marimar, Little Nanay, Poor Senorita, Let The Love Begin, That’s My Amboy, Encantadia, Mulawin Vs Ravena, Alyas Robin Hood Book 2, Super Maam, and the latest Kara Mia.
