- Julie Anne San Jose and Christian Bautista are preparing for the second leg of their concert series dubbed as The Sweetheart and the Balladeer: Fun Night Only.
- The two admitted that they feel pressured without Regine Velasquez in their concerts.
- Velasquez has transferred to ABS-CBN from GMA Network last year.
Kapuso singers Julie Anne San Jose and Christian Bautista were used to perform with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez during their concert series 3 Stars, 1 Heart in 2018 here and abroad.
However, last year, Velasquez decided to transfer to ABS-CBN from GMA Network. Her move raised various speculations from people, but according to her, the decision was brought about by her dream to work with the country’s No. 1 network before she eventually retires.
Both San Jose and Bautista couldn’t deny that they felt pressured without Velasquez with them in their first leg of the concert series, The Sweetheart and the Balladeer: Fun Night Only. The shows are part Kapuso concert series.
In a press conference held for the concert’s second leg in Cagayan de Oro, Julie Anne and Christian were asked about the distinctness of their present concert.
Christian whispered to Julie Anne which she laughed and revealed, “Wala nang poste sa gitna.”
His comment was probably an insinuation of Asia’s Songbird‘s absence.
Christian admitted that he felt edgy without Regine on the concert, “Yeah, of course, mas may pressure. Of course, meron, kasi wala ka nang Regine Velasquez.
“Pero na-prove naman namin sa last show na kaya. Second leg na nga,” Christian said in an interview with PEP.ph on June 17.
While Julie Anne said: “Kakayanin and mas naiisip namin na mas galingan pa natin, so mas namo-motivate kami to do our craft better.”
Despite being separated from Velasquez, the two artists are still in touch with the now Kapamilya talent.
“Sometimes I text her or message her. Nagre-reply naman si Ate [Regine]. Kinikilig pa rin ako,” Julie Anne shared.
Christian also admitted that he and Regine are still exchanging messages via social media.
Amid being busy, the two singers are still dreaming of an international career.
“Lahat naman po tayo may pangarap na mag-step in another level, na makapasok sa international scene,” San Jose said.
“Siguro po sa akin, ayoko pong i-set aside. Open naman po ako sa kahit anong opportunity. I just want to keep elevating myself and keep doing better when it comes to my craft.”
Christian, on the other hand is planning to release an album dedicated to his Indonesian and Filipino fans.
“I still go to Indonesia every time there are events there, and I’m planning a new single to be released there very soon, a new album as well for the Philippines, and for Indonesia as well.”

Kyline Alcantara, Donita Nose, and Super Tekla will join the second leg of The Sweetheart and the Balladeer: Fun Night Only will be held on July 6 at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro.
In March 2013, Bautista transferred to the GMA Network after months of rumors. He performed for the first time on Party Pilipinas on March 24, 2013. He signed a three-year exclusive contract with GMA Network on March 20, 2013.
In October 2018, Julie Anne lead the New Musical Variety Show of GMA Network, Studio 7 along with Christian Bautista and Mark Bautista replacing The Clash on the network’s Sunday Grande sa Gabi line-up.
