Jimmy Bondoc backtracks, now favors ABS-CBN franchise renewal

  • Jimmy Bondoc now favors renewal of ABS-CBN franchise.

After his much talked about “I AM so excited to see the biggest TV network close down” tirade, singer Jimmy Bondoc has seemingly backtracked and is now okay with the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.

Bondoc has been highly criticized after he made his Facebook post about taking delight in the seemingly imminent non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise.

A known die-hard Duterte supporter, Bondoc didn’t mince words when he said that he would be happy to see the demise of the biggest network in the country.

His post eventually reached Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin who took the cudgels for ABS-CBN.

In a series of tweets, The General’s Daughter star slammed Bondoc for his “pure evil” wish to see thousands of people losing their jobs.

Let me be the one to break this news to you so you don’t have to make excuses. The network might not be perfect but for you to be happy about thousands of people losing their jobs is pure evil. Maybe you’re just having a bad day. I will pray for you

— Angel Locsin (@143redangel) May 22, 2019

If yes i encourage you and all the victims to report this to the police. But generalizing that sexual favor is a prerequisite to success is just wrong.

— Angel Locsin (@143redangel) May 22, 2019

Aside from Angel, other Kapamilya stars, former Kapamilya celebrities, and colleagues from rival networks also showed their solid support for ABS-CBN.

After getting all the backlash, Jimmy indirectly apologized to Angel via his interview with another staunch Duterte supporter Mocha Uson.

“Una sa lahat, buong-buo po ang respeto ko sa inyo bilang babae, bilang kapwa entertainer,” he said.

In the interview, Bondoc claimed he has no problems with the people working at the network, just the system that the company espouses.

“So ang message ko lang is, kung ano man ‘yung personal na nasaktan sa kanya dun sa message ko at sa mga kapwa niyang artista, paumanhin po…” Bondoc added.

After his apology, Bondoc again took to Facebook and shared that he would be happy to see the network’s franchise renewed.

In his May 30, 2019 Facebook post, Bondoc said that it would be a good sign if Congress will finally renew ABS-CBN’s franchise because according to him it will mean that all of the network’s issues and problems will now be resolved.

“Pag na renew ang prangkisa ng major networks, ako po ay matutuwa. Let this be an official statement, whatever that means,” he wrote.

Here’s Bondoc’s complete Facebook post favoring the network’s franchise renewal.

“Pag na renew ang prangkisa ng major networks, ako po ay matutuwa. Let this be an official statement, whatever that means.

– napagbayad na sila ng buwis, or napag-usapan na ang paraan ng pagbabayad;

– napagkasunduan na ang News, at ang paraan upang maiwasan ang Malicious News, at ang mga administrative sanctions sa mga lumalabag sa mga tuntunin kaugnay nito;

– tutuloy ang mga paborito ninyong palabas, pero magkakaroon na ng “healthy divide” sa pagitan ng politika at ng sining. Hindi na marahil magagamit ang mga palabas upang siraan ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno;

hanggang tuluyan akong mawasak bilang tao.

I am telling u the TRUTH: OK LANG SA AKIN YUN.

That is democracy.

Kung anuman ang paraan ng Pangulo para mawala ang FAKE and/or MALICIOUS NEWS na sumisira sa ating tunay na pagkakaisa,

naniniwala ako na..

YARI PA RIN AKO.

Haha! Sure na sure!”
