- Metro Manila and nearby provinces are experiencing a water crisis
- Celebrities like Janno Gibbs, Robin Padilla, and Mariel Rodriguez aired their grievances on social media about the water shortage
- The Angat Dam’s water level is declining and may reach its “record low” if there will be no rains to replenish it
The past weeks have been quite a struggle for Metro Manila residents because of the water crisis. Many celebrities were also not spared the problem of water shortage which seemed to be worsening over time.
Some of these celebrities did not hold back as they aired their sentiments on social media.
Actor and singer Janno Gibbs aired his frustration over the current water crisis and floods via Instagram stories and said that his family has not had water for almost a week.
“Siguro naman may refund water bill namin! Halos isang linggo na kami wala tubig eh. Nagkakaroon lang maybe 2 hrs a day. 2x if [we’re] lucky,” Gibbs said via Instagram Stories on June 24. Janno said.
On June 19, Robin Padilla also shared his lengthy post on Instagram calling out the politicians to deliver basic services to the homes of Filipinos and complaining about their high tax payments. A part of his statement said:
His wife, Mariel Rodriguez commented on his post and echoed his grievances about paying huge taxes but still experiencing water crisis.
Tapos wala tayong tubig?!?!?!?!?!?” Mariel said.
TV host Bianca Gonzalez joined in and agreed with the statements of Mariel and complained about the effects of the water crisis.
“@marieltpadilla sobrang hassle ng walang tubig. And yes sakit ng buwis,” Bianca commented.
The decline in Angat Dam’s water level has resulted in water interruptions in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Reports over the weekend showed that Angat Dam might hit the 160-meter critical level in one or two days. If that happens, the allocation for Metro Manila’s water supply may be reduced.
The National Water Resources Board reduced the water alloted to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), which is responsible for distributing water supply to Maynilad and Manila Water. As per a report on June 24, the dam may breach its “record low” before the end of this week if the rains do not come soon.
