- Kara Mia failed to win in the ratings against FPJ’ s Ang Probinsyano
- Different techniques and stories were put into production but the show still failed to make a dent in the ratings
Kara Mia, the teleserye based on a true story from India, is about to end its run. The show failed to dislodge its rival show FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano from the top spot. Kara Mia is about a girl who has Diprosopus or craniofacial duplication. In simple terms, she was born with two faces.
The show made a big buzz on different social media platforms where memes and parodies were made about it. The cast also made their best efforts for the said show.
Kara Mia isn’t alone in its failed efforts to beat Ang Probinsyano. Here are the others:
Marimar starring Megan Young and Tom Rodriguez lasted for only five months. Little Nanay with Kris Bernal was replaced by Poor Senorita, a light drama series starring Regine Velasquez. Familiar favorites like Encantadia (the remake of the original 2005 series) and Mulawin vs Ravena (with Carla Abellana, Lovi Poe, Heart Evangelista, and Dennis Trillo) also fell short. Alyas Robin Hood with Dingdong Dantes, Super Maam with Kapuso Primetime Queen Maria Rivera, and Alyas Robin Hood Season 2 were not able to dethrone Ang Probinsyano either. Sherlock Jr with Ruru Madrid, The Cure (a “zombie-serye” starring Jennylyn Mercado and Tom Rodriguez), and Victor Magtanggol (with pambasang bae Alden Richards) were not enough to beat the rival show. Cain at Abel put together the star power of Dingdong Dantes and Dennis Trillo but the show only lasted three months.
Only time can tell if the next show can fare better against the FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano juggernaut.
