- GMA Network reviews video of Eddie Garcia on the Rosang Agimat set before the accident
- The network says they will also wait for further announcement from the family or the actor’s doctor on his condition
- The 90-year-old actor was rushed to the hospital on Saturday, June 8, following the incident
GMA Network is taking back its initial press release on the cause of Eddie Garcia’s current condition. Yesterday, the Kapuso Network released an official statement saying Garcia suffered a “severe heart attack” during the taping and was under “critical observation” on Saturday, June 8.
Hours before the announcement, pictures circulated on social media showing a seemingly unconscious Garcia being carried by several men.
A video also went viral showing Garcia at the taping of GMA Network’s Rosang Agimat before the veteran actor slipped into a coma at the Mary Johnston Hospital in Tondo, Manila.
A video, posted by a certain Mhervin Maco, shows Garcia tripping over some cable and people rushing to him after he could not get up.
After the video went viral, Kapuso Network issued another statement. “The video of Mr. Eddie Garcia faltering in his steps & eventually collapsing has reached GMA. We are seriously reviewing the said video as well as other videos of the same scene which our cameras also took before we make any conclusions on what really transpired.”

In an early statement attributed to his family, it was reported that Garcia “suffered from a severe heart attack” while taping for the show.
The network also said that it was Garcia’s stepson Nick who issued a statement on behalf of the family, which was in turn used by its Public Relations department. “The statement that was released earlier was given to GMA News by Nick, Mr. Eddie Garcia’s stepson. We will wait for the family or their doctor to issue a formal update on his condition. Meanwhile, we continue to pray for his quick recovery,” said the network.
Garcia is still in the hospital and is under observation.
Celebrities led by Sharon Cuneta, Vice Ganda, and Ogie Alcasid have asked for prayers for the actor.
