Veteran actor Eddie Garcia is now conscious after collapsing early Saturday on the set of his upcoming series. According to the official statement coming from his family, the 90-year-old actor had a heart attack while filming the upcoming teleserye Rosang Agimat.
Rosang Agimat, an upcoming series on GMA Network, was touted to be Garcia’s network comeback.
“He is still under critical observation and all his doctors are doing their best to assure that he gets the best care,” they said in the statement.
“Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all those who have expressed concern and extended prayers. Please continue praying for Tito Eddie’s fast recovery,” they added.
“At 90, he is still doing what he loves most, acting. He is a pillar of the industry and is very passionate about his craft. We would like to request his fans and everyone to pray with us so he could get better the soonest time possible. Thank you.”
In a Facebook post by actress Vivian Velez, the 90-year-old actor was said to have been in “critical condition.” The post showed photos of Eddie being carried away by people.
Even at his age, the actor has remained active in showbiz. He was last seen on TV in ABS-CBN’s primetime action drama television series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano where he played the role of Don Emilio Syquia, the nemesis of Cardo Dalisay, Coco Martin’s character.
He recently received the Mga Natatanging Bituin Ng Siglo award from the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) in celebration of the 100 Years of Philippine Cinema this 2019.
