- GMA Network’s Starstruck is back on its seventh season.
- Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado are the hosts of the show.
- A media con was held for the said talent search show.
StarStruck, the original artista search on television is finally back on its seventh season and is all set to discover the next Ultimate Survivors which already started to air on June 15 on GMA Network with Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado as hosts; and the former (Dantes) praises the latter’s (Mercado) rose-to-fame as the talent show’s Ultimate Survivor.
During the media conference held at GMA Annex Bldg., Quezon City on June 10, Dantes was asked about the difference of the previous seasons to the new season.
“Siguro, isa sa major na pagkakaiba, walang social media dati. So, kumbaga, yung progress ng hopefuls, yung kanilang mga buhay ay hindi masyadong nasusundan after the show or beyond the show. Pero dito, mas nagiging involved ang mga humahanga sa kanila. Kahit na hindi napapanood on air, nasusundan sila online” Dantes shared.

Dantes also noted the transition of Mercado from an Ultimate Survivor to a Starstruck host.
“Kay Jen siyempre, since siya ang Ultimate Survivor noong una, ang daming opportunities na naibigay sa kanya.”
He added,“Nandiyan ang pag-arte, ang pagkanta at lahat iyun, ibinigay ng GMA.
“Yung commitments niya noong nanalo siya, kitang-kita ko kasi ang pagiging consistent niya doon sa kanyang commitment sa pagganap niya sa mga role niya. Kaya yung progress at pagiging magaling niya, palaging nag-i-improve and siguro, magandang ehemplo ngayon yung kanyang current teleserye,” Dantes said about Mercado’s romcom series Love You Two.
The three members of the Starstuck also relayed their experience being a judge.
“This is my first time mag-judge. Nahirapan ako kasi siyempre, lahat naman sila, magaling. It’s an experience,” Heart Evangelista revealed.
While Cherie Gil,who also does not have any experience being a Starstruck judge shared her thoughts about her new role, “I’m glad to be part of the council. I’m honored that they trust me with making the choice of the final 14. That’s the hardest part, e.
“Kasi, pagpasok na ng 14, meron na kaming katulong sa viewers. That’s kinda easy task. Kami talaga, ang pipili sa first 14. So, their dream is in our hands, ang hirap. So, we’ll be very very careful in our choices,” Gil said.
Jose who acts as one of the hosts of Eat Bulaga, narrated his new experience, “Galing kasi ako sa audition sa Eat Bulaga.
“May mga nag-audition sa singing, sa dancing, sa acting. Doon kasi puwedeng pabalikin mo. Dito, kailangan talagang mag-decide ka na.”
Also, it was also brought up if the new season will be keener on checking the hopefuls’ backgrounds and eliminate those who have scandalous videos.
“Pagkatapos ng unang harap nila sa council doon mo makikita talaga kung anong pagkatao ng hopeful more than the talent na ipapakita. Yung personality niya on how she or he adopts and copes with challenges, yun yung aabangan ko,dahil yun yung kakapitan ko sa kanya.”
Apart from Dantes and Mercado hosting the show, they are joined by Multitalented Kapuso actress Kyline Alcantara as the StarStruck Insider, the host of StarStruck’s online show, Inside StarStruck.
Out of thousands of auditionees across the country, 11 boys and 11 girls were chosen through a series of demanding tests dubbed as the StarStruck Experience. After the gruelling process, these 22 hopefuls will face their final audition on the show’s pilot episode as they compete for a rightful spot in the Final 14.
StarStruck Season 7 airs Saturdays after Daddy’s Gurl, and Sundays after Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko.
