  • Eddie Garcia passed away at 90
  • He tripped and fell while shooting a TV series for GMA Network last June 8
  • Garcia left behind an impressive and unforgettable legacy in a showbiz career that spanned nearly 7 decades

The Philippine entertainment industry mourned on Thursday (June 201) the passing of Eddie Garcia, a screen icon and director whose career spanned for seven decades. Celebrities and friends of Garcia took to social media to remember and pay tribute to the veteran actor.

Garcia, who died aged 90, had been filming a scene in a GMA Network series on June 8 when he appeared to trip, resulting in a cervical fracture.

The veteran actor was last seen in ABS-CBN’s coverage of 35th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies where he received the “Natatanging Bituin ng Siglo” award for his contributions to the local movie industry held earlier this month.

ABS-CBN, his home for seven years, mourned the death of Eddie Garcia, considered by many as one of the greatest actors in the history of Philippine showbiz.

He was last seen on ABS-CBN as part of the hit primetime serye, ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’ He played a villain to Coco Martin’s lead character.

ABS-CBN releases official statement on Eddie Garcia’s death
