- Suzette Doctolero is the head writer of ‘Sahaya’ on GMA Network
- On her Twitter post, a netizen threw shade at the show, comparing it to ABS-CBN’s ‘higher caliber’ series
- Doctolero reacted to the netizen’s comment
Suzette Severo Doctolero is the writer behind some of GMA Network’s biggest series, like ‘Encantadia’ in 2005 and its reboot in 2016, ‘Amaya,’ ‘Indio,’ and ‘My Husband’s Lover.’
Currently, she is the head writer of the drama series ‘Sahaya.’
The series follows the enchanting tale of a lovely Badjao girl, portrayed by Bianca Umali, who has extraordinary powers.
‘Sahaya’ was supposed to be the first Philippine series on the international streaming platform Netflix, but the honor went instead to ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,’ which was retitled to ‘Brothers’ on the streaming service.
This might have led one netizen to throw shade on the show in a reply to Doctolero’s Twitter post.
Hayaan mo na. Trip nila yun. Just like u, trying to convince people to watch Sayaha pero ala hindi mo sila mapipilit. They wanted to watch a higher caliber (ika nga ni Sharmaine Buencamino) teleserye in ABS-CBN. Ung hindi tinipid ba. Ung pangNetflix ba. Lels🤣😂😅✌

The netizen pointed out that ABS-CBN’s ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ was a “higher caliber” series compared to GMA Network’s. This was in reference to Shamaine Buencamino’s statement to PEP.ph when asked about the strengths of the two opposing networks during her recent press launch of ‘The Kundiman Party.’
Buencamino said, “Para sa akin, ang production value ng ABS, mas mataas kesa sa GMA, which means they go to more lengths to make their production as excellent as they can. The effort and the passion that they put in their work. It’s higher caliber sa ABS-CBN. But, on the other hand, ang GMA naman, for me lang, ha. I’m not saying this is true for all. GMA has always given me better roles. GMA naman values me more as a talent. They give me better roles, better shows. They see the good things in what I do. Yun naman I’m so thankful to them.”
Buencamino currently plays Aling Virgie, the mother of Alyana (Yassi Pressman) on ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’ Buencamino was once part of GMA Network’s afternoon soap ‘Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka’ where she played the mother of lead star Yasmien Kurdi in 2018.
