- “What a shame!” JK Labajo, netizens, disappointed of the 3 judges of ‘Idol Philippines’ who said ‘NO’ to Luke Baylon
JK Labajo, frontman of the band Juan Karlos, took to social media to express his disappointment over the rejection of 21-year-old reggae singer Luke Baylon during the latter’s audition for ‘Idol Philippines.’
Judges Vice Ganda, James Reid, and Moira Dela Torre voted no to his performance while Regine Velasquez-Alcasid was the only one who said yes to him.
“Huge shame on the other ‘judges’ for not seeing this guy’s potential. What a shame. Such a shame. I’m ashamed,” Labajo said.
The show and the judges have received criticisms from viewers ever since the episode aired.
Moira Dela Torre reacted to JK’s statements regarding the issue.
“You know he’s entitled to his own opinions and I get why people are fighting for Luke kasi magaling naman talaga siya. I respect his opinions. Yeah, I respect him,” Dela Torre said during a press conference.
She also said that she is open to collaborating with Labajo in the future if ever possible.
Of her decision to say no to Baylon, she explained: “I really, really liked him but I just feel like ang dami pa po kasing contestants.”
She also said: “Luke was great but I know that he is going to have his own moment. Kung may naniniwala po sa second chances, ako po ‘yun. Kasi ako naman po hindi ako pumasa sa Live Rounds.”
When asked about what to expect for the next round of ‘Idol Philippines,’ she said that there are many things to look forward to, including the astounding performances of the contestants.
“Madami po. Makikita n’yo talaga at maiintindihan n’yo po kung saan kami nanggagaling as judges. Sobrang hirap po talaga na ang daming magagaling but we have to say ‘no’ too. Idol is such a great platform to pursue your dreams but at the end of the day it’s not the only platform and yung aabangan po sobrang dami. Sobrang galing po talaga ng mga artists,” she explained.
She also said that she is still willing to be a judge for the show if season 2 of ‘Idol Philippines’ pushes through.
