- Netflix sat down with three Pinoy celebrity couples: BJ Pascual and Mike Lavarez, Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona, and Niko Del Rosario and Emmanuelle Vera, who candidly talked about the ups and downs of their own relationships
Does love suck or does love rule?
Let’s face it: love sucks. Fights are unavoidable, one of you might forget an anniversary, and sometimes, hearts are broken along the way. But no matter how messy it gets, the good parts of love — the kilig of a meet-cute, the excitement of a first kiss — make all the hardships worth it.
Netflix sat down with three Pinoy celebrity couples: BJ Pascual and Mike Lavarez, Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona, and Niko Del Rosario and Emmanuelle Vera, who candidly talked about the ups and downs of their own relationships.
BJ Pascual and Mike Lavarez
More than being an artistic and creative couple (BJ is a celebrity and fashion photographer, while Mike is a DJ and art director), they use their platform to speak up about LGBTQ+ equality. They shared how they first met and how their relationship has changed them for their better.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s two guys, two girls, a guy and a girl,” said Mike. “It’s genuine. It’s true. It’s love.”
Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona
Musicians Jim and Saab chatted with Netflix about who made the first move and taking the leap from friendship to something so much more, which helped them see through struggles they face.
“My version of love is friendship,” shared Jim. “And then, ‘hey, can you be my friend when we raise another human being?’”
Niko Del Rosario and Emmanuelle Vera
Newly engaged couple Niko and Emmanuelle might still be in the honeymoon phase, but they view relationships with wisdom that’s beyond their years. They shared how they got engaged and how they both handle the downsides that often come with love.
“Love is always so romanticized by everyone, but love is tough. It’s probably the biggest struggle you’ll ever go through in life, it’ll pose the biggest challenge you’ll ever face, but at the same time, it’s the most rewarding thing ever,” said Emmanuelle.
