In an interview by ABS-CBN yesterday April 4, Liza explained why she chose to withdraw from the Darna Project.
She clearly cited the injury that she had on her right index finger, which was the result of an accident in the set of ‘Bagani’, a defunct Kapamilya series where she starred in.
According to the millennial star, she had undergone two surgeries, and therapies, with hopes that the injury will recover soon.
But the injury requires a third surgery and continued therapy, which made the young actress decide to no longer star in the project.
A statement issued by Star Cinema disclosed that, “Unfortunately, after consultation with her doctors, it was deemed best for Liza not to pursue the project as the injury shall hamper her from effectively doing the movie stunts required.”
ABS-CBN and Star Cinema said that they understand Liza’s condition and respect her decision and that they are hoping for her full recovery.

In July 2018, Liza Soberano had started filming scenes as Narda, Darna’s human alter ego under the direction of Erik Matti. In October 2018, Erik was replaced by the director of “Heneral Luna,” Jerrold Tarog after his withdrawal, due to “creative differences” with Star Cinema.
