Struggles truly empower a person to strive more. Nadine Lustre proved it to be true as she won best actress at the 67th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) on Sunday.
She revealed that the movie “Never Not to Love You,” a film released in 2018 about a young couple Gio(James Reid) and Joanne (Nadine Lustre) and how they lived together in London, was an unforgettable movie for her. It was difficult for her shooting the movie way back in 2017 for she had experienced a major problem that time.
“Mayroong isang malaking bagyo na dumaan sa buhay ko. Sobrang malaking damage din po ang ginawa nito sa akin so a few months po before namin umpisahan ‘yung ‘Never Not Love You.’ Parati kong iniisip kung itutuloy ko kasi nararamdaman ko na baka ma-disappoint ko lang po sina direk Tonette and sina Boss Vic. Ilang beses ko din pong gustong umatras,” she narrated.
With doubt in her heart, she continued playing her role. Little did she know that the movie paved her way into a greater success.
“Iyong reason po kasi talaga kung bakit sobrang proud and sobrang unforgettable ng pelikula na ito para sa akin is kahit po nandoon po ako sa lowest point ko, naitawid ko po ‘yung pelikula with flying colors,” she said.
She also said on her speech that the movie was dedicated to her supporters, family, and friends.
Antoinette Jadaone and Dan Villegas, the directors, were also honored by Nadine for winning the award.
Lastly, she thanked her boyfriend, James Reid, as the one who makes her strong everytime.
