- Introducing ‘Wave,’ a new hero rising from the Philippines
- Artist used Nadine Lustre as an inspiration for the new Marvel Filipino superhero
- Newest addition to the Marvel Comics is a two-sword wielder from the great sea, a morena superhero inspired from the Viva star–Lustre
On February, April 5, Marvel gave a glimpse of their newest superhero, Wave, a mysterious Filipino heroine.
Also, on April 4 of this year, Comic Oddysey shared the cover of the comics on their facebook page, featuring Wave carrying two swords with the Philippine Flag as her background. The upcoming issue for War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas, will be released this May, where Wave is set to make her splashing debut.
The amazing cover was drawn by Pinoy artists Mico Suayan and Rain Beredo. Suayan has worked before with comic companies such as DC, Valiant and Marvel. The cover features Wave emerging from the sea, all smiles and is donning her neon-lit, water-based tech suit.
Suayan explained further on his facebook account that he patterned Wave on Nadine Lustre. Mico also revealed his inspiration behind the morena-skinned Wave is also Lustre.
The illustration will be released for the covers of War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1.

Mico credited Rain Beredo for coloring the cover, as well as co-creator and designer Leinil Yu. The story will be set in Asia as the Filipina hero joins fellow Asian heroes and will unite and defend the Earth against the dark elves.
Wave is now getting started in Marvel, so a film adaptation maybe expected in the long run. Comic Offysey will soon be accepting pre-orders for the limited edition covers of War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1 and will be released in May.
