With Liza Soberano’s exit from the ‘Darna’ movie, netizens have been excited as to who will replace her. They have even shared their suggestions of who they think deserves to portray the iconic Pinay Superheroine role.
Two of the most favored actresses are Nadine Lustre and Kathryn Bernardo.
In separate interviews, Nadine and Kathryn have expressed their opinions regarding the ‘Darna’ role. During the Skechers Move in Style event “D’Lites x Bang” held last April 6 in Taguig City, Nadine stated, “My God. I’ve heard about that. I’m really happy that they’re very supportive but I know naman kasi that the role is going to be given to someone who’s deserving and someone who can do it. I mean, it doesn’t have to be me. It just has to be someone who can give justice to the role.”
In the case the role would be officially offered to her, Nadine admitted that she does not know what to do. “I don’t know. It depends. I don’t really like saying that I don’t want to do it or not because mapupunta talaga yan sa kung sinong deserve nung role na yun eh,” she admitted.
Kathryn Bernardo, on the other hand, has also been the netizens’ picks to replace Liza Soberano. “For me, ‘yung Darna is such an iconic role,” Kathryn stated during the launch of her Generation Happy Skin Active makeup line last Saturday.
“Of course, lahat ng artista gusto yun gawin, pero hindi lahat pwedeng maging si Darna.”
She even admitted that she is a big fan of Darna. “Yes, of course. S’ya yung representative natin ‘no?”
But just like Nadine, Kathryn thinks that she cannot give justice to the iconic Pinay superhero role. “Personally, I don’t think I can be Darna kasi ewan ko, parang kinalakihan ko sya… s’ya yung representative ng mga babae, so I want somebody na a bit older than me.”
When asked of who she thinks deserve to be the new ‘Darna’, the actress replied with, “Di ko alam. Ang hirap personally mamili kung sino yung perfect for the role ng Darna. Pero maybe it’s not for me.”
