- Jessy Mendiola says that she is not alone in waiting for more projects under ABS-CBN
- Jessy accepts and understands her current situation of not having enough projects to keep her busy
- Jessy awaits for more projects, says that this is only a cycle to go through
It can be observed that Jessy Mendiola has been inactive in ABS-CBN television programs. Thus, triggering questions as to what is the current status of her career.
Her absence even came to the point of having rumors regarding her transfer to other networks, due to the lack of projects given under ABS-CBN. But Jessy has denied this speculation as she is staying as a Kapamilya network talent, and this will not be her basis to transfer.
She also clarified that this is just a cycle and many other talents also experience this kind of situation, explaining that ABS-CBN has a lot of artists and it is impossible to give each one projects all at the same time. That is why she understands her current state and is still thankful that she gets to do movies.
“I feel like lahat naman ng artista may cycle. Marami kami eh. So hindi puwedeng ako at ako lang ang bibigyan. Maraming artista ang ABS-CBN and even yung kabilang network and I’m sure tina-try nilang bigyan ang bawat artista ng trabaho. Nagkakataon lang talaga na wala. So it’s up to you to explore kung anong gagawin mo for yourself and for your career.”
As her upcoming film ‘Stranded’ is about to air on April 10, she hopes that netizens would patronize not only their film but all other local movies that will be screening. Regarding the fall of the local film industry, Jessy has also noticed this and sees that netizens are not into prioritizing local films. So filmmakers and all other artists, even she herself, do not know what genre do audiences look for in a movie. She also emphasized that movies are not a one-man film so her bashers cannot blame her for movies that flopped.
“Siguro hindi lang natin maintindihan ang gusto ng audience kasi pansin ko for the past year nagbabago ang gusto ng audience eh. Minsan gusto niya ng rom-com, minsan gusto nila drama, minsan gusto nila ng slapstick comedy. So kung may ibang movies na na-release since January, walang maganda yung gross eh. So hindi din puwedeng ma-blame sa isang movie or dahil lang sa akin. Hindi naman yun one-man film.”
Nevertheless, as long as Jessy is still active in making movies there won’t be any problems with her career. So catch Jessy together with Arjo Atayde on their upcoming film Stranded, as they will give you a fresh story about a man and a woman forming a love interest while being stranded for a day.
