After the iconic superhero ‘Darna’ role was vacated, many showbiz personalities have been suggested to portray the said role and one of them is the Kapuso star, Maine Mendoza.
Netizens think that Maine will best portray the said character because she has the morena skin and Filipina looks that will suit the Filipino identity of Darna.
However, the rights for the production of ‘Darna’s’ remake belongs to ABS-CBN, thus it is impossible for Maine to portray such role knowing that she is under a different management.
This was also stated by Maine’s talent manager Rams David on a short interview with PEP.ph when he said that Maine is from GMA Network so she cannot play the role of ‘Darna,’ which is under ABS-CBN. He also said that there are many deserving talents under the management of ‘Darna’s’ remake, so finding talents from other networks is not necessary.
“Parang masarap lang isipin, pero hindi yata. Sa ABS yun, e, di ba? Parang ang hirap naman. Ang daming girls sa ABS. Sana, doon sila makahanap. Maraming magaganda, magagaling, at deserving din for the role.”
Despite it being impossible, many netizens still think that Maine is the ideal fit for the next Darna portrayal.
