GMA Network’s newest afternoon drama series, ‘Bihag,’ was aired on Monday, April 1. ‘Bihag’ premiered on the second slot of the Kapuso afternoon prime.
It replaced Ken Chan’s ‘My Special Tatay,’ which was aired on the third slot.
The drama series cast members are Max Collins, Jason Abalos, Sophie Albert, Mark Herras, and Neil Ryan Sese who played their roles intensely and captivated the heart of the viewers.
‘Bihag’ started with Jessie (Max Collins) dreaming of his son taken away by goons, trying to kidnap him after praying in church. Jessie’s husband, Brylle (Jason Abalos), was awakened by his panicking wife and immediately rushed to Ethan’s room, only to find him sleeping soundly. On that day, Ethan had an educational trip and was brought to school by Jessie. Brylle, who is a doctor, drove himself to a coffee shop before proceeding to the hospital. While on the coffee shop, his attention was caught by a woman in white (Sophie Albert) who was reading a book titled Broken. The two chatted for a while and found out that both have the same taste in coffee.
Jessie, while in the grocery, heard the news that a hostage-taking incident was ongoing at the Manila Film Center. She was shocked to learn that one of the held captives inside a bus was her son. She rushed to the venue, and met a father named Amado (Neil Ryan Sese), whose daughter was also inside the bus. Jessie was trying to contact Brylle but was not able to answer since he left his phone inside the car.
While Brylle is doing his rounds, he saw again Reign, the woman in white he met in the coffee shop. Hours passed, the students were still held captive. The hostage taker (Kiko Matos) started firing gunshots when he saw policemen surrounding him. Amado’s daughter, Gigi was shot as Kiko and policemen were exchanging gunfire.
The pilot episode was intensely heartbreaking that it captured the viewers. This is what made the pilot episode fare in the rating games.
