- ABS-CBN bagged 11 out of 15 awards from the 5th Students Choice Mass Media Awards of the Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc City Campus
- TV Patrol, Umagang Kay Ganda, Salamat Dok, It’s Showtime and other Kapamilya programs led the winning streak
- Kapamilya stars and personalities also won awards in different categories
ABS-CBN dominated the fifth Students Choice Mass Media Awards of the Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc City Campus (EVSU-OCC), winning 11 out of 15 awards. The Kapamilya network also won the Academe’s Choice Media Network of the Year and five other awards at the first Kidlat Sinaya Awards of Rizal Technological University (RTU).
Leading the winners in the EVSU-OCC was ABS-CBN’s flagship nationwide news program “TV Patrol,” which won Most Trusted News TV Program, while longtime anchor Noli De Castro won Most Trusted Male Newscaster. ABS-CBN News reporter Jeff Canoy, who covers conflict and disasters, won Most Trusted TV Male Field Reporter.
Daily morning news program “Umagang Kay Ganda” also won Best TV Morning Show while public service program “Salamat Dok” won Best Medical TV Program.
For entertainment, daily noontime program “It’s Showtime” was named Best TV Variety Show while Sunday favorite “Banana Sundae” won Best TV Comedy Show. “It’s Showtime” and “Gandang Gabi Vice” host Vice Ganda also took home the Best TV Comedian award.
Long-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” meanwhile, won Best Drama Anthology Series while newly-launched “The General’s Daughter” won Best Primetime TV Series. On the other hand, “Kadenang Ginto” won Best Daytime TV Series.
ABS-CBN personalities also earned the approval of business students at RTU. Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber won the People and Academe’s Choice Female and Male Celebrity Endorsers of the Year, respectively. They were also named the People and Academe’s Choice Loveteam of the Year.
Kapamilya actresses and hosts Toni and Alex Gonzaga and their family received the People and Academe’s Choice Celebrity Family Endorser of the Year, while Toni’s son Seve Gonzaga-Soriano won the People and Academe’s Choice Child Celebrity Endorser of the Year.
The EVSU-OCC Students’ Choice Mass Media Awards honors excellent programs and personalities chosen by the university’s students and faculty, while the RTU Kidlat Sinaya Awards recognizes prominent celebrity endorsers and experts in the advertising industry.
