- Keempee de Leon is again a Kapamilya actor and he’ll be doing a teleserye titled ‘Nang Ngumiti ang Langit’
- Keempee is the son of Joey de Leon to Daria Ramirez
- The actor last appeared on ‘Eat Bulaga’ three years ago
Keempee de Leon was a co-host of ‘Eat Bulaga’ for more than a decade (1989–1997, 2004-2016). So when he appeared on its rival show ‘It’s Showtime’ last March 11, it was a big deal.
That’s the reason why Malou Choa-Fagar, a top executive of TAPE, Inc., the producer of’ Eat Bulaga,’ hindered him from doing so. Keempee, the son of ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ pioneer host and comedian Joey de Leon appeared on ‘It’s Showtime’ segment ‘KapareWho’ last Monday, to promote his upcoming show on ABS-CBN titled ‘Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit.’
During the press conference of his comeback show on ABS-CBN, Keempee admitted his misgiving towards the management of ‘Eat Bulaga.’ “I’m not blaming them at hindi naman mawawala na nagtampo talaga ako kasi wala akong sagot na nakuha or memo, pero hindi tayo puwedeng magmukmok ng ganu’n lang, so I have to do something, I have to move on, I have to make a decision, kailangan kong magtrabaho. Pero malaki ang nagawa sa akin dahil 14 years ako sa Bulaga.”
When asked about if he’s open to appear again on ‘Eat Bulaga’ now that he’s already back in ABS-CBN, he answered, “Right now hindi ko masasabi. Nandoon pa rin ang tampo pero hindi naman magla-last ‘yun kung baga hinayaan ko na sa Diyos lahat.”
“Malaki ang utang na loob ko sa kanila plus nandoon din ang daddy ko (Joey de Leon), naging part din ako ng Bulaga, 14 years ‘yun kaya thankful ako. Neutral lang si daddy kasi, kungbaga I’m old enough,” he added.

He also told the media that he received a message from Malou Choa-Fagar, a top executive TAPE, Inc., saying that he should not appear on ‘It’s Showtime’ since it airs the same time as ‘Eat Bulaga.’ He said that he told Choa-Fagar that his appearance on ‘It’s Showtime’ is nothing personal and it’s solely for work.
He reasoned out, “Ipinaglaban ko, sabi ko tita (Malou), lumipat na ako, alam mo naman ‘yan, so ito is promotion lang ng show. Hindi naman porket nag-guest ako, e, tatapatan ko na sila, it’s all about professionalism, trabaho ko lang ito.”
When asked if he’s open if ‘It’s Showtime’ will get him as a co-host, he explained, “I’m not closing my doors and I can say yes. Sana maintindihan nila (EB) ako. I’m in this business for quite sometime, trabaho lang naman itong ginagawa ko, so sana lang ‘wag personalin.”
Keempee is still just doing a teleserye on ABS-CBN under the RSB Drama Unit, and he has no network contract to speak of. He will be seen, starting Monday, in ‘Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit’ before ‘It’s Showtime.’ Other cast members of the show include Kaye Abad, RK Bagatsing, Enzo Pineda, Matet de Leon, Pilar Pilapil, Heart Ramos, Miguel Vergara, Krystal Mejes, Cristine Reyes, and Sophia Reola under the direction of FM Reyes and Marinette de Guzman.
