February 24, Sunday – Joachim “Wakim” Regalado together with the transgender mom housemate Mitch Talao were evicted during the Double Nomination Night of Pinoy Big Brother Otso. After being evicted, Wakim met her sister as he got to the outside world.
In ABS-CBN morning talk show ‘Magandang Buhay,’ February 28 episode Wakim together with his mother (Mommy Nellie) had an interview. His Mom explained the condition that Wakim was diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
“Yung kay Wakim, we noticed na he was always getting sick at that time, so akala namin there was something wrong lang kasi nag-a-act up, minsan nagta-trantums, minsan ay hyper-active.”
According to Mommy Nellie, she focused on understanding her son’s condition rather than being scared of it. She also detailed that due to lack of specialist in Iloilo she decided to study more about Wakim’s condition.
“The most important thing that you have to do first is when you notice something about your child, wag ka nang matakot, wag ka nang mahiya, no hesitations, mas mabuti nang malaman ng earlier ‘di ba… And they have to know also, what’s going on with them.”
The 19-year-old ex-housemate, also shared what he thought are the reasons why he was being misunderstood.
“My way of saying things siguro may not be as easily comprehended as I would like it to be. So I feel like, as a reader and someone who likes learning a lot, its important to learn new words to express yourself better in any language. Siguro yung spirit of what I say may not always be captured, but I always have the best intention, I promise.”
Wakim also shared his intention in using his influence to change the connotation and the image of PPB teens.
“People who have a lot of influence also have a responsibility, kasi we have a lot of impact on the moral fabric of society, on how people view you. (PBB) is a representation of – ng lipunan. So I wanted to be a good influence. And as a teen, I wanted to uplift the name ng PBB Teens na wala nang bad connotations sa PBB Teens, because I’m an advocate of youth empowerment. So it was really about me.”
It can be recalled that the last time he talked to Big Brother in the confession room, prior to his departure, Big Brother reminded him of the golden values that he learned inside the House. Big Brother said that, above the intelligence of a person, it is important to be sensitive about his environment and also to be aware of other people’s emotions.
