Maria Lourdes Nancy Sombillo Binay-Angeles, or very much known as Nancy Binay, has ascended as senator of the 16th Congress in 2013 and the 17th Congress in 2016. And in this year’s elections, she will be running again as one of the senatorial candidates. With the elections fast approaching, massive campaigns are being implemented and one of the media to let netizens know more about their candidates is to have a visual presentation of their life.
During the launching of her book entitled ‘Make Love Not War,’ Senator Binay was asked if who among the celebrities does she think would best represent her in a biopic, and she safely shared that teen star Kathryn Bernardo would best fit the role as she is by far the only top-grossing morena actress in the showbiz industry.
“AKO, ang naiisip ko lang na medyo morena ngayon, si Kathryn Bernardo yata, eh. Medyo mas close ang kulay naming dalawa.”
To avoid bashers from criticizing her for assuming that they have the same skin tone, she clearly added that Kathryn is fairer than her.
“Pero mas maputi siya.”
Senator Nancy Binay is one of those politicians who received massive criticisms from netizens, going even as far as having regular bashers that are always present in her timeline.
Her book ‘Make Love, Not War’ was actually inspired by her bashers, most especially by her number one basher named Senyora, who was even Nancy’s co-writer.
“Okay naman ‘yung concept when they presented it to me. So heto ngayon, libro na siya. Nagtulong kami ni Senyora Angelica Santibanez.”
Though they did not see each other in the making of the book, it was successfully published by the ABS-CBN Publishing, Inc.
Regarding her bashers, who always criticize her because of her skin color, she said that she is not bothered at all as she loves being dusky.
“No, kasi I know myself naman, so why should I be bothered at all? Ang laging pintas sa akin is my skin color. Maitim daw ako. May nago-offer, papuputiin ako. Ayoko nga, this is me. At kahit paputiin nila ako, iitim din uli ako agad kasi mahilig akong magpaaraw sa beach.”
This only shows how Senator Nancy Binay professionally takes care of her bashers and most especially herself.
“Well, I’ve always believed na we cannot control what they say or write about me, but I can control how I will react to them. ‘Yung iba, nade-depress agad kapag na-bash sa social media. Ako, I don’t let them affect me at all. I-stress ko lang ang sarili ko. It’s really how much you love yourself and I love myself enough para hindi ma-stress ang buhay ko.”
