- As Keempee officially transferred to the Kapamilya Network, he will be cast on the upcoming drama series ‘Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit’
Keempee de Leon, after 16 years of working with the GMA Network, has returned to the Kapamilya Network and will be appearing on the upcoming morning series ‘Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit’ that will air starting March 25.
On March 11, many were shocked by Keempee’s surprise guest appearance at the Kapamilya Network variety show ‘It’s Showtime,’ as he joined the show’s segment ‘KapareWho.’ This was to promote his comeback on the upcoming drama series.
His appearance on the noontime show gained mixed reactions from netizens as some were excited, while others criticized and questioned it; knowing that he was previously connected as co-host in ‘Eat Bulaga,’ the rival show of ‘It’s Showtime.’ Plus, he is the son of the show’s longtime host Joey de Leon.
In a chat with one of the sources of the entertainment site Abante.com, when Keempee was informed that his appearance on ‘It’s Showtime’ trended, he just responded with a laugh, “Talaga? Hehehe!”
When asked if his father knew about him guesting in the rival show he replied, “Alam niya may show ako sa ABS. Kuwento ko sa ‘yo ‘pag nagkita tayo.”

It can be remembered that in March 2016, Keempee was expelled from ‘Eat Bulaga’ after 12 years of hosting. In a previous statement one year after his leave from the show, he stated that he does not know the reason behind his exit.
“Kung tatanungin niyo ako kung ano ang naging dahilan kung bakit hanggang ngayon ay wala pa ako sa Eat Bulaga, kahit ako, hindi ko alam ang dahilan.”
During that time Keempee admitted that he felt devastated about the leave that turned out to be an exit. But despite it, he stayed with GMA Network from 2015-2018, as he appeared on the network’s different soap operas.
His most notable latest works were ‘Little Nanay,’ where he got to work for the first time with superstar Nora Aunor and ‘Meant to Be’ where he worked for the first time with former ‘That’s Entertainment’ cast members, most notably Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs.
Keempee’s appearance on the show was dubbed as #ShowtimePaZsaBog and was warmly welcomed by netizens.
