GMA Network’s former field correspondent Maria Bulaklak Ausente passed away at the age of 32 last March 13, (Wednesday).
Ausente started her journey in GMA News since 2011, and became one of the news field reporters. However she had to quit her job as she was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease, secondary to hypertension in 2012.
On September 2015, GMA News together with Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Gerphil Flores, Zendee, LM Cancio, and the GMA reporters and anchors held a benefit concert to raise initial funds for Ausente’s kidney transplant.
In her previous blog, she thanked everyone for the support and love in a photo posted and said, “September 2015.
During the benefit concert to raise initial funds for my kidney transplant. How can I thank everyone who had generous hearts?”

As she battled her way against her kidney disease, she successfully received a transplant in 2016 and continued on with her medication.
Despite the physical and emotional stress that her kidney gave her, she fought her way back and returned to the newsroom where she served as junior news desk editor while working in a wheelchair. She inputted so much strength as she fought for years that on March 13, 2019, 4:44 pm, she joined our Creator in heaven, free from all the pain and suffering on Earth.
Many of her co-workers and netizens expressed their sympathies with the family. One of them was GMA Network news anchor Kara David, who posted on her twitter account, “Salamat Maria Bulaklak Ausente ❤️ maaari ka nang magpahinga sa piling ng ating Poong Lumikha. Salamat sa masasayang alaala. #kapuso”
