Turns out, it’s not all fun and games when it comes to showbiz love teams.
In an interview on October 2018, actress Janella Salvador, alleged that her on screen partner Elmo Magalona, physically hurt her in at least two separate occasions.
Janella and Elmo never confirmed their relationship status but were honest that they were exclusively dating last year. Both Janella and Elmo are part of showbiz families. Desiderio, Janella’s mom, appeared on the West End production of Miss Saigon, while her father Juan Miguel Salvador was the frontman of ’80s band, Rage Band. Elmo, on the other hand, is the son of late Filipino hip-hop icon Francis Magalona and the grandson of actors Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran.
Singer-actress Janella is slowly reentering showbiz after a brief period of rest, following her controversial breakup with former onscreen partner Elmo.
It has been almost 6 months since Janella bravely came forward with accusations against Elmo physically abusing her. She shares in an interview with TV Patrol how the incident had affected her mental health, and why she had to take a break from the limelight because of it, in order to heal. “It got to a point na nawalan ako ng confidence sa sarili ko. I got depressed, I did, and I went through a lot.”
After the success of her comeback single ‘Take It Easy,’ many have been asking what’s next for Kapamilya actress Janella. According to her, she’s taking things step by step with her showbiz career.
She mentioned how great a help her family had been to her recovery, but also acknowledged that it was because of her own strength that she pulled through. “It broke me in many ways, but then, after a while, I realized that no one else can fix me but myself.”
When asked if she would be willing to be involved in a love team once again, she replied that she’d rather not for now. “I’m willing to work with different actors, actresses but I guess I’m gonna have to stay away from the love team notion muna,” she said. She further explained, “People may get very attached when it’s a love team and I don’t think I’m ready for that again.”
Janella also denied that she’s in a relationship with Marco Gumabao. It can be remembered that shortly after her breakup with Elmo, photos of her and Marco started circulating. But according to her, it was just a friendly hang-out. “We’re friends. We’re friends talaga. And maraming tao nun eh. It wasn’t a date,”
Currently, Janella’s iWant TV serye Touchscreen: Wittyrella is now streaming on the iWant TV app.
