It was revealed that Regine Velasquez-Alcasid will be one of the Idol Philippines judges, after she signed a contract with ABS–CBN.
Recently, ABS-CBN released the names of the three other judges that will be with Regine in Idol Philippines – Vice Ganda, James Reid, and Moira Dela Torre.
Many were excited of these revelation, but after posting it online, many appealed and questioned the credibility of Regine’s judge companions.
“I’m sorry pero si Regine Velasquez lang ang may karapatang maging judge dito. Moira? 50/50, mej pwede na. James Reid? He’s an actor. Andyan naman si Jed Madela, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, etc. Vice Ganda? He’s a comedian. Wala nga sa tono yan kapag kumakanta eh. Ay sus,” A tweet from @jjcdizon expressing his comments and thoughts about this revelation.

A veteran song writer and artist, Jaya, and a ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ judge did not hesitate in defending the panel of judges from people who questioned their credibility.
“I don’t think so. First of all, ang Tawag Ng Tanghalan ay daily. And we cover all of sorts of demographic ages. Although ang Idol may mag-a-audition din na iba’t-ibang genre—kung sino mga nag-a-audition sa amin. That’s the thing with competitions, maraming masasalihan. Sa amin, hindi naman pwedeng i-compare because they have four judges. Every weekends lang sila. Kami, daily. Iba rin ang na-i-ooffer ng TNT. So I would have to say let’s wait and see what Idol Philippines will offer. I’m pretty sure, with all the four judges, it’s going to be big time and of great impact ‘yan,” Jaya said this during the press conference for her upcoming 30th anniversary concert.
However, Jaya believes that every opinion should be respected, but it’s to early to judge them, it’s so unfair. Thus, she appeals to people to give them the chance by watching ‘Idol Philippines.’
“Well, like what I said, kanya-kanya tayo ng opinyon. May mga taong hindi pa nga napapanood ay hinuhusgahan na. The bosses are very intelligent enough to pick the right judges for the show. Hindi nila ilalagay diyan kung walang gagawin. Kasi kailangan makita din ‘yung credentials ng artists na maghuhurado. Now, choice naman ng management ‘yan, choice naman ng mga boss. Bigyan muna natin ng chance na mag-air. Let’s watch, let’s see. Ngayon, kung talagang ayaw niyo, eh di ayaw niyo. Wala tayong magagawa. Ngayon, kung gusto niyo, kung bibigyan niyo lang ng tamang panahon at pagkakataon. Hintayin muna natin kasi wala pa nga eh. Lagi namang ganyan eh,” Jaya added.
She even give points to the credibility that these judges were capable of.
“Tsaka si Songbird and si Vice ‘no? How can you go wrong? Tapos si James naman he’s also an entertainer, a performer. May backing din siya nang ginagawa niya sa buhay niya. Ito namang si Moira—she’s like the biggest artist now. How can you say she’s not credible as a judge? She writes songs, she performs. Eh dinodownload niyo nga Spotify. Siya lahat. Ilang milyon ang nanonood sa kanya sa YouTube.
“You know? Knowing Moira masasaktan siya. Pero I would have to say she’s under one of the best managements around. Cornerstone will not let her go into this without taking care of her and making sure na talagang mawawala ‘yung sama ng loob niya. Kasi at the end of the day, it’s a job. You have the social media and the netizens that will make or break you. And for the most part, she is being broken. And she’ll know what to do. She knows exactly how to get out of that. My God, stay strong. No one can beat you down. Sa lahat ng nagawa mo, sa lahat ng naisulat mong kanta lahat naman sila sumising along diyan. There’s no way na kailangan mong patulan ‘yan. Kasi parte na talaga ng buhay natin. Just be strong. Do your thing, be a great judge, and just show them what you’ve got,” Jaya inputted.

Jaya will be celebrating her 30th anniversary concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in Resorts World Manila on April 3, 2019.
This veteran performer trusted the four named judges and believes that they can do a great impact, and with the word she said and inputted, I think that’s enough to convince everyone and get rid of their hesitations.
