- Jaya, the well-known Soul Diva, shares her desire of joining the ‘ASAP Natin To’ stage
- She expressed in an exclusive interview how fun it is to sing in the Sunday variety show together with the other great singers
Soul Diva Jaya spoke about being left out in the new format of ‘ASAP,’ the ‘ASAP Natin ‘To’ that was reformatted last November 2018. Jaya confirmed that she does want to join the Kapamilya variety show, after all, she is already an ABS-CBN talent after transferring back in 2016 from the GMA Network.
Jaya, being one of the Kapuso Network’s first talent to transfer networks, has since officially became an ‘It’s Showtime’ judge in the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ segment. Then later she was followed by former ‘SOP’ co-hosts Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph, Jaya expressed her willingness to join the Sunday variety show. She admitted that singing in the show is really fun saying, “Gusto ko na nga sumali, e. Ang sarap sumali sa ASAP, kasi ang saya, ang saya ng kantahan.”
Actually Jaya has already performed in the ‘ASAP Natin To’ stage but she only goes as a guest and not as a regular.
Despite this, she clarified that her being excluded from the show does not mean that she felt bad over it, emphasizing that at least she is free on Sundays.
“Pero okay pa rin ako na wala sa ASAP kasi ang dami kong free hours pag Sunday.”
She also added that she does not feel bad at all with the management’s decision.
“Ay waley! Ang shonda shonda na para umarte. Hindi ako nagdyu-joke, wala talaga, kasi na-a-appreciate ko yung Sundays ko. Single, e, nagka-kids, SOP pa rin. Noong naging Party P at saka Sunday All Stars siya, my kids are still young din, e. Ngayon, malalaki na, so gusto nila, ‘Let’s go! Let’s go!'”
Jaya previously issued that she seemed to be left behind in the limelight and not given enough opportunity unlike Ogie and Regine but she already clarified the issue in an article of Bandera where she said, “Merong mga nagdedesisyon para sa mga programs. So, kung ‘yun ang gusto ng bossing for the moment, so be it. I’m sure marami pang changes ‘yan. Alam mo na, maraming talents ang ABS, so, I’m sure marami pa ‘yan na papasok ulit.”
But despite the non inclusion of Jaya in the Sunday variety show, she is still very grateful for the network for giving her the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ of ‘It’s Showtime’ because of this, she is able to make a name again in the industry.
“Napakalaking blessing for me ng TNT bilang nagbigay din ng pangalan sa akin ulit, at ibinabato ako sa iba’t ibang parte ng mundo. Nakagawa ako ng maraming TFC shows and events. Bagong lipat pa lang ako, bagong TNT ako noon, kung saaan-saan na ako lumipad.”
