In one of the ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’ episodes, a paranormal happening in the province of Siquijor which they called a “ghost ship” was featured. The KMJS team together with the paranormal investigator Ed Caluag, and some of the officials, visited the province and conducted an investigation.
Based on Caluag’s assessment, he really felt something different. However with thorough investigation conducted by KMJS, they confirmed that it was indeed a ship named MV Filipinas Iligan.
Paranormal expert Ed Caluag’s consecutive unnatural points of view, received massive criticisms from the online community by discrediting and making fun of him.

During the contract signing of KMJS host, Jessica Soho with the Kapuso Network, she explained that the show gave Caluag the opportunity to explain and defend himself.
“Kami, we just have to be truthful. Nakita niyo naman doon sa storytelling, sinabi niya ganito, pero later on, hindi pala. So then we ask him, ‘Oh hindi naman pala.’ Pero of course, we do it in a way na hindi naman siya ‘yung talagang makabawi. We always have to give the person a fair share eh.”
She added, “So how do we react? Wala, we just have to be truthful. And then he wanted more time to explain himself, so we gave him the time to explain himself. Ganu’n lang ‘yon.”
“We try as much as possible… iba kasi ‘pag sa news eh. May news pa rin, information pa rin ang value ng programa pero siguro, hindi ‘yung dikdik kasi sa news, minsan ganu’n eh, ‘di ba? May public interest kasi na mas premium sa news stories. Pero for a program like ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’ which is a news magazine, then mas may leeway kami siguro to give the other person more chance to explain his position,” she explained.
The ‘KMJS’ host found it reasonable to feature Ed Caluag’s story and the netizens reaction.
“Kasi wala namang public interest masyado na at stake. Meron din, for the truth, pero, not to the extent na, ‘Ah sige! Hindi ka na makabangon!’ Hindi kami ganoon.”
Jessica Soho is on her 34th year in service with the Kapuso Network and officially signed her new contract last March 13.
