- ‘Playhouse’ could be the last teleserye produced by GMO Unit
- ‘Playhouse’ has been topping the ratings charts from its start until the end
Just like the usual teleserye endings, the love story of Marlon (Zanjoe Marudo) and Patty (Angelica Panganiban) ended in a church wedding, where they got married again; after going through a bitter separation. Wounds, both figurative and physical, healed.

Just when Patty recovered from a critical operation, as Robin’s kidney donor, so too did her relationship with Marlon. And the two were no longer bickering co-guardians of their godson, Robin (JJ Quilantang), but as former couple slowly inching towards reconciliation.
The GMO Unit-produced ‘Playhouse’ enjoyed a six-month run as the top-rating program in its time slot.
TV Ratings
Just like its pilot episode, ‘Playhouse’ successfully concluded its 6-month-run. ‘Playhouse’ started on September 17, 2018 with a big gap versus its Kapuso rival, ‘Kapag Nahati Ang Puso,’ with 13.6% while the latter earned only 9.5%. ‘Kapag Nahati ang Puso’ ended on November 2, 2018 with only 12.2%, ‘Playhouse,’ meanwhile, was steady at 14.2%.

The Korean TV series ‘Woman of Dignity’ and ‘Don’t Dare to Dream’ replaced ‘Kapag Nahati Ang Puso’ on its timeslot but still failed to score against ‘Playhouse.’
Now, GMA Network returned to producing its own series on the pre-noontime slot by putting ‘Hiram na Anak’ before ‘Eat Bulaga.’ According to Kantar National TV Ratings (Urban +Rural) on February 25, the pilot episode of ‘Hiram Na Anak’ registered 8.6% while its rival ABS-CBN show ‘Playhouse’ registered 15.3%. The Kapamilya show was able to get a Kantar rating that is 6.7 points higher than the new Kapuso drama series.
‘Playhouse’ concluded with 17.0% versus ‘Hiram Na Anak’s’ 8.9% on its finale last March 22. Meanwhile, the Kapamilya series all-time-high ratings on its entire run (September 2018 to March 2019) is 20.5% on December 17 versus the ‘Kapuso Movie Festival’ with only 7.9%.
With the conclusion of ‘Playhouse,’ its time slot will be occupied, starting Monday, by ‘Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit,’ a drama series starring Cristine Reyes, Kaye Abad, and child newcomer Sophia Reola.
