The return of ‘Darna,’ a Filipino iconic superhero, was reported delayed after Enrique Gil unveiled last year that love team partner and girlfriend Liza Soberano will be having a surgery of an injured finger.

Is Liza still playing the ‘Darna’ role?
It was confirmed by the director of the ‘Darna’ film that they will be working soon and start taping this summer!
The production staff of the film, to be starred by Liza Soberano, felt so lucky because they will be the first ones who will utilize the ABS-CBN SJDM Studio located at San Juan del Monte City in Bulacan.
When the said studio was not yet fully ready, director Jerrold Tarog thought of building a warehouse that is similar to the Buy Bust film of Anne Curtis. But it need high funding to build, so they ended up waiting for the new studio to be ready as they will be using it for the entire film shoot of the new ‘Darna’ film.
Liza is expected to show the bravery of an action-inclined character which is different from her romantic films. Netizens are excited to see more of Liza as superhero and not merely as romantic character.
Netizens were also waiting for the revelation of who will be the film’s female antagonist. Allegedly, auditions for this part happened at the Dolphy Theater last Saturday, March 16.
The name of Garrie Concepcion (daughter of Gabby Concepcion and Grace Ibuna) was one of the mentioned names who auditioned for the antagonist’s character.
However, there is no confirmation yet as to who will be playing the role.
