About a week ago, a netizen’s post asking ABS-CBN to stop showing the Eerie movie trailer on television at late-night hours, went viral.

After learning about the said post, one of the bosses of ABS-CBN and lead actress of Eerie, Charo Santos-Concio, responded by saying, “Well the trailer is very effective I guess, di ba? I hope it translates to a great box office experience.”
Eerie is the story of the unexpected and gruesome death of a student which threatens the existence of an old Catholic school for girls. Charo plays the role of Mother Alice, the head mistress of an all-girls Catholic institution, who will be in conflict with the curious guidance counselor Patricia, played by Bea Alonzo.
In the movie, Bea Alonzo and Charo Santos share the same spotlight in terms of acting prowess and are very proud in the said horror movie. “I wanna say that I’m very, very proud of this film. Sana magustuhan din ng ating Filipino audience,” Charo told the press.
Charo, after being in the business since the 70’s, has seen every challenge, trial, and growth that the local entertainment industry has faced. She has gained enough experience to know and be aware of the industry’s standing.
Charo Santos directly stated that the local industry is not at all dying, in fact, it is even improving. She clarified that the incidence of flopped movies that happened during the first quarter of 2019 were just challenges and it is because we are in the Digital Era that we experience the rapid shift from traditional industry, to an economy based on information technology.

She added that today’s film industry is even more exciting. Because of the massive availability of technology, it is much easier and faster to make movies, unlike in the industrialized era where making films still takes a lot of time and effort.
Aside from being a host of Maalaala Mo Kaya, the longest running television drama, she also produced a number of films such as Oro, Plata, Mata and Himala under the Experimental Cinema of the Philippines. She established herself as an award-winning dramatic actress early in her career and gained various recognition and awards from prestigious award winning bodies.
Eerie will be showing in local cinemas starting March 27. It will also be shown in countries across Southeast Asia.
