- Wave co-creator Leinil Yu has Angel Locsin in mind to portray the new Filipino superhero of the Marvel universe
- Angel dubbed by local showbiz as ‘Action-Drama Queen’ is no stranger to portraying superhero roles as she already played the iconic komiks character ‘Darna’
- However, Angel cleared out that she is retiring from her superhero-ing roles, a response which made her followers sad
Filipino fans of Marvel comics took the online world by storm as they shared their excitement on the introduction of ‘Wave,’ the first-ever Filipino superheroine to look out for.
Though not much is known about Wave yet, fans are already raving about the character and one of those is action-drama queen Angel Locsin.
In February, it was announced that Marvel would be introducing new heroes in their war of the realms series and they are called the ‘New Agents of Atlas.’ Writer Greg Pak first shared about Wave on his Twitter account, stating that the character was designed by Filipino comic-book artist Leinil Yu while the colors were done by Sunny Gho.

Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin was among those who was excited about Marvel making a Pinay superhero. With much excitement, she then shared her thoughts in a tweet, “I’m excited to learn more about this character!” Adding, “Regarding her costume, I wonder what’s the inspiration behind the design?”
It then caught the attention of Leinil Yu, the Filipino artist who designed Wave when he responded to Angel by sharing more details about the character and even said he would love to see her portray the superhero.
“It’s a collaboration of ideas between me, Greg, and Marvel editorial. Would love to see you as Wave, Angel!”

Angel got very ecstatic with the suggestion of the designer that she posted the thread in her Instagram stories.
“Can’t stop smiling. Thank you, Sir @leinilyu for the wonderful reply.”

However, the next day Angel confirmed in a reply to the post that she is retiring from any kind of superhero-ing roles. Though she already managed to adjust to the condition and has regained her condition from the spine injury, she has already declined the role that she might possibly be getting.

This saddened many of her fans but they still pushed Angel for they believed that she’s really fit to portray such role.

War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas will be uniting new and classic heroes. It will be featuring the Marvel Comics debut of the super heroes called Wave, Aero, and Sword Master. The story sees Amadeus Cho reassemble his “protectors” to save the world from incineration. Cho has successfully led a ragtag team of heroes to defend the Earth from an alien invasion in the past, but can he do it again this time?
Wave also known as Pearl Pangan, is from Cebu. Her powers are water- and tech-based, she was described by Marvel as “a mysterious new Filipino heroine.” She will be teaming up with heroes from China named Aero and Sword Master to protect Asia from an alien invasion.
