- The eldest son of Manny Pacquio, Jimuel, wants to follow his father’s footsteps
- His parents were both discouraged and disagreed with him on his decision
- Manny revealed that Jinkee cried many times over her son’s decisions to enter the world of boxing
The eldest son of Manny Pacquiao, Emmanuel “Jimuel” Pacquiao, expressed his determination to enter the world of boxing.
According to Manny, Sabi ko nag-boxing lang ang daddy mo dahil sa kahirapan. Naging boksingero ako dahil sa kahirapan para masuportahan ko pamilya natin,” as he discouraged his son to join the sport.
He would encourage his sons to play basketball instead of doing boxing as their professional career.
“Ayaw namin, dini-discourage namin talaga. Sa bahay wala kang makikitang boxing gloves o boxing equipment. Basketball meron, may court kami.”

The eight-division title holder also revealed that his wife Jinkee, disagreed on his son’s decision and cried several times after Jimuel revealed his intention in joking the sports. “‘Yung mommy n’ya, ilang beses nang umiyak: ‘Huwag kang mag boxing anak.’ Ako masakit din sa akin na mag-boxing siya dahil alam ko kung gaano kahirap ‘yung boxing,” he said.
Despite his parents disagreement on his decision, Jimuel has been persistent on doing professional boxing, just like his father. “Ang sabi niya, ‘Daddy, like you, boxing is my passion also. I want to be the representative of this country as an athlete.’ Gusto niya talaga eh.”
