- GMA Network’s young stars Therese Malvar and Kyline Alcantara are set to lead on the upcoming afternoon series, ‘Inagaw na Bituin’
- As early as now, people are tagging them as the modern day Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos
Two of the GMA Network’s young stars, Therese Malvar and Kyline Alcantara, are set to star in the GMA Network afternoon prime drama, ‘Inagaw na Bituin,’ to be directed by Mark A. Reyes.
Because of the their awards and recognition, people tend to compare their performances from previous projects and has started asking if there is tension or rivalry between the two of them.
It can be recalled that Vilma Santos and Nora Aunor used to have solid fan bases that always compared their projects, performances, and achievements. This time around, Therese and Kyline might experience the same thing.
In an interview of PEP.ph with Therese last Feb. 1, during the grand media conference at the GMA Corporate Center, she shared some of her insights about the show and her co-star Kyline.

“There will be pressure, kasi ang daming nag-e-expect. Hindi lamang sa akin, kundi sa aming dalawa ni Kyline, because a lot in the audience know that we’ve won awards. People will expect so much of this teleserye, so we will do our best. Hindi kami nagku-compete para sa isa’t isa. Nagku-compete kami with ourselves.”
How does she feel about people tagging them as the modern day Vilma Santos and Nora Aunor. The young award winning actress said,
“Sabi nga po nila, so sobrang nakaka-pressure. Nora is Nora, Vilma is Vilma, and we will try our best to exceed the expectations na eventually, malalaman nila sa Inagaw… ang mga pangalan namin. Sabi po nila, ako raw po si Nora, and si Kyline po is Vilma. That’s what I was told.”
Is there any competition or rivalry between the two actresses?

“Hindi po. Tulad po ng sinabi ko, walang competition between the two of us. We only compete with ourselves, and because we love what we do, there is no need for a competition. It’s a share and learning process because we love what we do. Nakaka-flatter po na pinagsabihan kami na one of the best actresses, and they’re expecting a lot. And the more that we will do our best.”
Her concern were the issues that might affect their performance on the show.
“Baka maging awkward kami sa isa’t isa kapag puro inggitan na lang, kapag puro kumpetisyon. Thankfully naman po, wala pa naman kaming eksena together but we always talk about showbiz, and what we like to do. And sana naman po, walang mamagitan sa amin na masama.”
She admitted that they both have bonding moments during the shoot and they used to talk inside their tent during the taping breaks. She’s glad that they’re comfortable with each other.
“And also sa tent [sa taping]. Nag-meet na kami even before pa when I auditioned for my first film, and from there, lagi ko na siyang nakikita. And finally, magkaka-work na kami together, magkaka-eksena, and nagiging comfortable na kami. Nagiging close na kami sa isa’t isa and we’re in the process of knowing each other.”
‘Inagaw na Bituin’ will premier on February 11 on GMA Network’s afternoon prime bloc.
