- The director of ‘Inagaw na Bituin,’ Mark A. Reyes clarified that the plot of the story is different from the movie starring Sharon Cuneta and Cherie Gil
- Basically, the show was inspired by the traditional Filipino drama that’s why it might look familiar to its audience
- GMA Network invested on two original songs for the afternoon series
Last February 1, during the media conference of the GMA Network afternoon prime series Inagaw na Bituin, director Mark A. Reyes clarified that what they’re about to show is different from what has been seen in the movie or on TV.
Reyes said that the show is not just going to be the usual musical where all of a sudden the cast will sing, but rather has an intriguing plot twist. He also proudly shared that the Network invested on two original songs. Most of all, he shared that it’s the talent of the award-winning cast that must be awaited in the show.
“GMA has invested in a lot of new music for the series so hopefully we’ll have an album as we move along. What you’ll be hearing are two originals. We have several new songs coming up for the series as well. But beyond the music, it’s the drama that is very intriguing here.”
“Some of the story points are the usual fare for a soap but the way it was written, and the way the twists and turns happen, is very interesting po. And need I say more, the casting between these two young girls and the more ‘younger’ stars… I mean busog na busog sa hapon ang makakapanood ng serye na ‘to.”

He also stressed out that the storyline of the upcoming series is far different from the version of “Inagaw na Bituin” which starred Sharon Cuneta and Cherie Gil.
“I guess the milieu is the same, you know. Once napanood mo ‘yung classic na ‘yun, mare-relate mo nga dito sa progama namin. Pero sobrang iba niya, I mean pag mapanood niyo palang ‘yung first episode, you’ll realize it’s totally different. Ibang iba siya. It’s the same feel, it’s the same genre but it’s totally different, very, very different.”
In addition to that, Reyes said that the theme of the series was inspired and derived from Filipino culture, that’s why people might feel that it is somehow similar to the previous one.

“Maybe because that’s so Pinoy. ‘Di ba nasa kultura natin ‘yan, ‘yung pagkanta, ‘yung musika, tapos pag merong dalawang forces na naglalaban, at the end either nagkakabati or ‘yung isa naggi-give up, isa nananalo.
“So I guess that’s the nearest thing that is tied up with all the other past movies or series with us. But totally again, the story is very different from what we’ve seen. It’s not based on something or inspired by something.”
GMA Afternoon Prime ‘Inagaw Na Bituin’ will premiere on February 11 and stars Kyline Alcantara and Therese Malvar. Also with them are Sunshine Dizon, Angelika dela Cruz, Marvin Agustin, Angelu de Leon, and Gabby Eigenmann.
