“It’s about facing fears and remaining steadfast, getting ‘closer’ to the vision and not giving up,” describes Aquila. This motif of power and strength emulates throughout her persona and songwriting, which is also inspired by vast landscapes reflective of her travels and thirst for adventure.
Born and raised in Australia to Singaporean/Vietnamese parents, Aquila’s cultural influence stems from her diverse South East Asian heritage. A visual artist at heart, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Music, her musical influences are haunting of an earlier ‘Radiohead’ with a voice that exudes confidence and wisdom beyond her years.
Aquila’s debut single, “Vagabond”, amassed over 700k streams and paved the way for a coveted live showcase at BIGSOUND, The Gold Coast Music Awards and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. 2019 sees Aquila return to the fold, bigger and bolder than before, armed with new music, a new management team and a newfound focus towards her roots in South East Asia.
