- Is ‘Sunday PinaSaya’ variety show of GMA Network pressured against its rival show?
- Hosts Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola of ‘Sunday PinaSaya’ are not affected with the other networks show
- Asia’s Songbird joins ‘ASAP Natin To’ as one of the show’s host late last year
Sunday variety shows are what keep us entertained every beginning of the week. We await the different artists who showcase their different talents, aside from acting. And as observed, they cater mostly to singing and dancing. It is a platform to reach out to their respective audiences to give them a happy time.
Recently, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Asia’s Songbird, after transferring to the Kapamilya network has joined the ‘ASAP’ show. It was confirmed through different showbiz websites that the show underwent a reformat as ‘ASAP Natin ‘T’o to coincide with the entry of Regine Velasquez as one of the show’s main hosts.
Because of this, netizens, as well as the media, can’t help but ask if this collaboration of Regine with ‘ASAP’ may threaten the other networks show which include ‘Sunday PinaSaya,’ knowing that ‘ASAP’s’ musical game is now stronger as Regine is already one of them.
Jose and Wally, who are co-hosts at ‘Sunday PinaSaya,’ got an exclusive interview with GMAnetwork.com last February 01, during their contract signing with ‘Eat Bulaga.’ When asked if the show was somehow threatening, they expressively said that the team are not in any way pressured and that they are more concerned with sticking by their motto which is to make their viewers happy.

“Kami naman masaya lang. Ang motto namin, basta pasayahin lang natin sila. Kasi pag nag-focus kami dun sa [pressure] baka lalo kaming ma-rattle alam mo ‘yun. Lalong mamali ‘yung gagawin namin. So relax lang, basta ano lang tayo dun sa motto natin na pasayahin lang natin sila so that’s it.”
Jose Manalo also emphasized that the main focus of the whole team is to be better each week. Knowing that there will be a lot of new artists to join their group.
“Hangga’t alam natin at nararamdaman natin ‘yung mga Kapuso natin ay nandiyan, mas pagagandahin pa natin kung ano ‘yung gagawin natin. Puro bago ‘yung mga kasama naming artista diyan ng GMA, pero magagaling silang lahat, masarap katrabaho. At masarap mag-trabaho sa Kapuso Network.”

GMA Network already had several Sunday variety shows in the past such as ‘SOP,’ ‘Party Pilipinas,’ and ‘Sunday All Stars’ that were sadly not able to beat ‘ASAP,’ which is now reformatted as ‘ASAP Natin To.’ So it got GMA Network to continuously improve theirs by finding ways to catch viewers’ attention.
And luckily, on their current ‘Sunday PinaSaya’ that has been running for 3 years now and almost on its 4th year this coming August 09, it has kept the network in high hopes as the management believes that it can very well compete with ‘ASAP.’
