2018 was one controversial year as many celebrities got caught in various scandals and issues that affected their careers.
Let’s look back at all of these controversial celebrities in our list of the biggest losers of 2018.
1. Sofia Andres
Sofia Andres found herself on thin ice after her inappropriate and disrespectful attitude was revealed by some members of the press. The young actress was reported to be rude and didn’t show any interest at all during some of her interviews.
She immediately apologized for her behavior, stating that she was having a difficult time around other people at that time.
This controversy was speculated by many to be the main reason why her character suddenly got axed from the LizQuen fantasy series ‘Bagani‘ last year.

2. Xian Lim
Xian Lim‘s career started to slow down after he left Star Magic and transferred to Viva. Although he starred in the blockbuster hit ‘Miss Granny‘ opposite Sarah Geronimo, he became less visible throughout the year.
He was also supposed to star in the upcoming Viva film “Ulan” with Nadine Lustre, but he was removed and replaced by Carlo Aquino.
3. Janno Gibbs
After signing up with Star Music last September 12, 2018, he became the center of controversies after he posted his comment on not being included in ABS-CBN’s Christmas station ID “Family is Love” and an alleged nude photo of the singer-songwriter circulating online.
4. Korina Sanchez
Korina Sanchez draws flak after being caught in several controversies last year, including her post regarding K-Pop groups and for featuring controversial personalities like Mocha Uson and Mader Sitang in her news magazine program ‘Rated K‘.
5. ElNella
The ElNella love team came to a crashing halt in 2018 after Janella Salvador accused her onscreen partner Elmo Magalona of physically hurting her, saying the abuse happened twice when the young actor got drunk.

The showbiz industry was shocked with the revelation of the young actress, after Janella decided not to work with her former leading man following their controversial breakup.
6. Mocha
Former Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux “Mocha” Uson became infamous for propagating fake news on social media, and all of this took a heavy toll on her last year.
Kris Aquino called her out for spreading misinformation about her parents, the late former president Corazon Aquino, and slain former senator Ninoy Aquino on June 5, 2018.
She also received criticism for her incorrect statements (like referring Mount Mayon as being in Naga) and their pepederalismo (a portmanteau of federalism and the colloquial terms for vagina/ pepe and dede/ breast) video with her blogger-friend Drew Olivar as they promote federalism back in August 2018.

And even though she claimed that she will never run for a position and will never join politics, she later revealed her intention to run in the 2019 midterm elections on October.
7. Jon Lucas
It Showtime’s Hashtags Jon Lucas suddenly disappeared from the limelight last year, causing many speculations about the young actor.

But on July 2018, he finally admitted that already had a son and is already married, confirming some of the rumors about the young actor.
8. Bugoy Carino
Bugoy Carino became the center of controversy last year after rumors of the young actor getting his girlfriend, UST Golden Tigresses’ star player EJ Laure pregnant circulated on social media.

The star player has since denied the issues about her being pregnant.
9. Paul Salas
Although his career may have gotten better after switching networks from ABS-CBN to GMA (he will star in the upcoming drama ‘Kara Mia‘ with Barbie Forteza and Mika Dela Cruz, he was the center of controversies last year after he was suspected of physically abusing ex-girlfriend Barbie Imperial who posted photos of herself with bruise marks all over her body- a post that she deleted right after.
10. Darren Espanto
Former “The Voice Kids” finalist Darren Espanto and JK Labajo sparked a Twitter war when JK allegedly called Darren gay.
The whole Twitter world was torn between the two young singer-actors as they continue to fight over some tweets for days. Darren even threatened JK of taking the whole thing to court.
11. Mystica
’90s “Split Queen” Mystica became viral on social media after she pleads “Ang Probinsyano” lead star Coco Martin for help in revitalizing her showbiz career.
But when her stint in “Ang Probinsyano” ended, she expressed her disappointment with the short role that was given to her, causing the irk of netizens and fans of Coco Martin and his show.
She even asked for help from other celebrities like Dingdong Dantes and Michael V. but no one helped her since after what she did.
12. LizQuen
Although everyone got excited as Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil finally had their first fantasy series together on primetime, their show ‘Bagani‘ came under fire after the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) criticized their series is “devoid of real meaning and substance” and that they “have overlooked and neglected the cultural sensitivities of our Indigenous Peoples“.
There were even rumors that the show will prematurely end due to it’s “low ratings”. The show lasted for 118 episodes, as compared to their past teleseryes ‘Forevermore‘ (148 episodes) and ‘Dolce Amore‘ (137 episodes).
It was also comparatively shorter than the KathNiel fantasy series ‘La Luna Sangre‘ which lasted for 185 episodes.
Aside from this, their love team didn’t have a movie in 2018 (although they are set to star in an upcoming Black Sheep productions romance flick this year) compared to KathNiel and JaDine, whose films were both blockbuster hits. Liza’s upcoming “Darna” remake also suffered from controversy after its director Erik Matti left the film. And just recently, Jessy Mendiola finally spoke about the controversial 2015 plane incident during their ASAP tour in London on September 4 where Enrique harassed the actress after he got drunk.
