GMA Network is one of the best purveyors of different top Asian TV novelas. Last year, after doing the Pinoy adaption of the Korean novela hit series “My Love from the Star” with Gil Cuerva and Jennylyn Mercado, GMA senior vice-president for Entertainment, Lilybeth Rasonable, confirmed the good news in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph that the netwoork is said to be working on another Korean novela soap re-make of ‘Descendants of the Sun.’
DOTS features the love story of a Special Forces member of South Korean Army and a female doctor. Sixteen (16) episodes complete the whole story. As narrated, the story shows the different trials of the surgeon, the lead female character and the male protagonist as peace keeping leader.
Last January 19, Ruru Madrid posted on his twitter account a picture of a scene showing the lead cast of DOTS. This gave the netizens a hint of his next soap on GMA Network.

“Yes, we bought it and like “My Love From The Star,” we’re going to do an adaptation,” Rasonable shared.
“We have to prepare for it. It’s very grand. Mukhang simple lang yung story pero the settings, how they are situated, medyo kailangang paghandaan, pag isipan, pati casting,” she continued.
This led to another male personality who rumored saying Alden Richard will play the role of the male lead character.
“Well, I’m not saying that hindi pwede kay Alden kasi sa totoo lang, bagay na bagay din siya. Kung siya, I’ll be very happy. But now, wala pang cast,” Rasonable answered.
Apart from Alden Richards, other names being considered as lead, Ding Dong Dantes’ name also came up as one of the possible leads of the upcoming project.
Dingdong Dantes doesn’t know what would be his next project after GMA Network’s Cain at Abel. He described the show as the last project he has in his contract with the Network. The Kapuso Primetime King noted “Honestly, hindi ko pa siya napapanood. Pero, why not?”
If Dingdong would lead the said Korean novela re-make, fans would clamor for his real-life wife Marian Rivera to portray the female lead. “I wish … Alam niyo, isa sa mga bagay na gusto kong mangyari ‘yan, ang makasama ko ulit si Marian sa TV… Pero siyempre, matatagalan pa ‘yan. Kung kay Marian talaga ialok ‘yun, hindi niya magagawa sa ngayon or kahit next year, baka hindi pa rin.”
All of these actors are suited to be part of this re-make. The netizens are excited on how GMA Network will bring out the Filipino flavor of the Descendants of the Sun re-make.
