- Days are numbered for GMA Network’s “Cain at Abel”
- GMA Network put together their two top leading men – Dingdong Dantes and Dennis Trillo – to rival Coco Martin of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”
- “Cain at Abel” sadly rated so bad from the very beginning, even in GMA Network’s ratings provider NUTAM
“Sa nalalapit na katapusan ng kanilang tunggalian, sino ang gusto mong manaig?” That’s how GMA Network asked their viewers based on the latest teasers of their primetime show “Cain at Abel.”
Is it a hint that the show is going to bid goodbye soon?
“Cain at Abel” is a reunion of two Kapuso kings, Dingdong Dantes and Dennis Trillo, after their last project together in 2010. The show premiered last November 19 on GMA Telebabad and has been battling the ratings game dominated by “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” who’s topbilled by Coco Martin. Its lead actors, Dingdong and Dennis, already conceded to Coco even as the show has just started.

Dingdong: “Siguro we all agree na ‘yung show na yun is in a league of its own. And wala naman kami rito para makipag-kumpetensiya kanino man.
GMA Network has a six-week running time policy. If a series doesn’t rate well in its first six weeks, the network will give it another week. If the series still has yet to rate high, the network would dispatch the said series.
Considering the length of its run, “Cain at Abel” is now on its tenth week and it only needed two weeks to complete one season (12 weeks = 1 season on regular TV series). So if our computation was right, “Cain at Abel” will end on February 8. Well, let’s see if the network will announce its last two weeks this Friday.
“Cain at Abel” is an action-family drama about two brothers, Daniel (Dingdong) and Miguel/Elias (Dennis) who grew up in two very different worlds. As children, they were separated by fate. Daniel was raised comfortably in the city by his father. Miguel, on the other hand, was taken by his mother who later changed his name to Elias. They relocated to a poor fishing village where they struggled to make ends meet. Years later, the two will be drawn together by their mutual affections: the father who brought them apart, the mother they yearn for, and the woman they both love.
In the series, Solenn plays Abigail—the bold, sophisticated, and adventurous lover of Daniel; while Sanya is Margaret—the principled, responsible, and inspiring girlfriend of Miguel/Elias.
