- Global flavors take over One Bonifacio High Street as three international restaurants open their first PH branch in Bonifacio Global City.
- One Bonifacio High Street is BGC’s newest shopping, dining, and entertainment centerpiece. It’s a stunning five-level lifestyle mall that serves as the final puzzle piece that completes Bonifacio High Street as a one-kilometer retail expanse.
One Bonifacio High Street recently opened its doors to give a sneak peek into the newest lifestyle destination in BGC. While many brands promise to set up shop in the new mall, two celebrated international food establishments have already opened their first branch in the country, with another one set to open this summer to offer Filipinos fresh and exciting new flavors. These are Magnolia Bakery (M Bakery), Chino MNL, and Elephant Grounds. New York’s Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, meanwhile, has just expanded in BGC for its latest branch.
“It’s from Sex & the City!”
New York’s Magnolia Bakery decided to open its first branch in Southeast Asia. Yes, it’s the same shop with pastel-topped cupcakes that made a cameo in the series Sex and the City. Even more, the vintage feels of its original New York shop is kept the same in its BGC flagship.
Anyone can have the Carrie Bradshaw experience and indulge in the signature banana pudding and delectable cupcakes freshly baked in small batches every day. The ingredients used are both imported and sourced locally. How much sweeter can that get?
Tacos and Tequila!
Chino is a Hong Kong-based modern Mexican style restaurant inspired by Japanese ingredients and cooking techniques. It recently opened shop in the dynamic community of BGC, its first overseas location. Chino MNL owner and Executive Chef Erik Idos grew up in Los Angeles surrounded by some of the best Mexican street food in the world and worked at Nobu where he developed interest in Japanese cuisine.
Hugely popular in the HK food scene, Chino MNL brings its signature dishes to offer something fresh to the discerning Filipino palate. Using ingredients from Japan, Mexico, and the Philippines, the food menu brings together distinct flavors from each culture with signature items like the Crispy Market Fish Tacos with Salsa Fresca and Manila-inspired dishes like the Goat Barbacoa Tacos with Cucumber Mint Salsa and Tuna Poke Tostada with Arbol Miso. Its beverage menu features a curated collection of tequila and mezcal.
Mouthwatering must-tries
Putting up a branch in BGC is the realization of a dream for Wolfgang’s Steakhouse owner Wolfgang Zwiener, who originally planned to set up his first Philippine branch in BGC. Flying back and forth in the country for several years and seeing the city’s dramatic development into a modern metropolis all the more strengthened Zwiener’s desire to be part of the community.
Wolfgang’s Steakhouse from New York is known for its exceptional USDA Prime dry-aged steaks. With a mouthwatering entrée list that includes rib eye, filet mignon, lobster mac & cheese, creamed spinach, and New York-style cheesecake, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse deserves a spot in your Must-try Restaurants in 2019 list.
Coffee, ice cream, and chill
Elephant Grounds is a fresh third wave coffee and lifestyle brand by entrepreneurs Kevin Poon and Gerald Li in pursuit of producing the best cup of coffee in Hong Kong. It is known for serving delicious specialty coffee crafted from carefully selected coffee beans blended and roasted specifically for the brand.
Aside from really good cup of joe, Elephant Grounds is also famous for delectable Asian-inspired comfort food, as well as their homemade artisanal ice cream sandwiches ─think Maldon salted caramel ice cream between gooey dark chocolate cookies then topped with caramel popcorn. Combined with the modern interiors and bespoke design of the shop, no wonder it’s a hit among millennials. Drink coffee and chill out with friends to find out more when Elephant Grounds opens soon.
