The uproar of #NoToBullying and #NeverTolerateBullying campaigns and posts erupted on social media after a video of a junior high school student assaulted another student. The said bully cornered the student in a comfort room and punched him in the nose which started bleeding.
This was recorded on video and uploaded on social media where netizens called Ateneo de Manila University to take action.
Organizations condemn bullying.
Joaquin has a black belt in Taekwondo which he uses in harassing other students. In a recent statement, Philippine Taekwondo Association condemned “any form of misbehavior which includes harassment, bullying, and acts of violence.”
Malacañang even spoke up about the issue and expressed their concern about the incident. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo urged Ateneo to investigate.
“I think they should investigate why there was such a one-sided fight given the fact that the one who mauled was much smaller… Dapat talaga imbestigahan. The school should investigate and do something about it.”

This video is very disturbing. Schools are our children’s second home and parents entrust the school admisntrators for their children’s safety. They should be responsbile for this type of circumstances. Bullying is barbaric! #NoToBullying https://t.co/2g5JUFBCFO

Our concern should be, first & foremost, the best interest of the child.
We need to build schools w/ proper anti-bullying policies in place. & we must have parents teach our kids that bullying is never OK & that violence is never the answer. #NeverTolerateBullying

Although it was a clear case of grave misconduct, Ateneo hasn’t made any actions to punish Montes.
UPDATE: Ateneo vowed to kick out the student “if” found guilty of bullying. Some netizens, however, pointed out that the video itself is a proof of bullying.
