Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez transferred to ABS-CBN jn October this year after being part of GMA-7 for two decades. Some Netizens wondered how do other singers, like Jaya, feel now that Regine took over the spotlight.
Do they feel envious on how ABS-CBN is treating the wife of Ogie Alcasid?
Jaya revealed that she was never jealous or envious despite how ABS-CBN differently dealt with the rest of the singers who are under the stable of the Kapamilya network.
“Personally, I’m never jealous or envious because I know she also supports us. We all support one another.
“You know, itong trabaho namin, pare-pareho kami na gusto namin makapagpasaya ng tao, to sing, and share what we have as singers.
“Talent ito, e. Ibinigay sa amin ito.
“Ano man ang laman nun sa labas, kanya-kanya na kami ng diskarte and kanya-kanya na kami ng kinang, ng shine, or moment.”
Jaya stressed that she is secured on her own talent and that she has her own projects, too. She also explained that she is not the type of person who is envious or jealous of other’s successes.
“Hindi mo puwedeng sabihing nakakainggit or nakakaano, kasi iba yun, e. You can’t compare.
“We all have different achievements, we have our own moments under the sun. Yun na nga lang, e, grateful kami. At this age, I’m still singing. I’ve done Soulja… Di ba, maging grateful ka and wala na akong hihilingin pa.
“And I’m sure it’s the same for them. We all have this feeling na, ‘Nakaabot tayo! Oh my goodness, rumaratsada pa rin tayo! Huwag na tayong umarte!’
“Just sing and sing and sing, until wala na, until our last breath, just sing.”
She is also revealed that she is happy for Regine on her recent transfer to ABS-CBN.
“It’s like history-in-the-making. And I was just so in awe of how God can just really transform your life, kasi sabay kami sa walk namin in Christ. And we know, alam namin kung anong mga pinag-uusapan namin a few years back.
“For that to happen, sit back and relax ka na lang, enjoy the moment. Kahit di ka magplano, may nagpaplano.”
Jaya recently had a concert, Soulja, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in August. She also had a recent concert with American singer Patti Austin titled Christmas with Soul Divas.
