- Kim Chiu was going to be The Girl in The Orange Dress.
- Jessy Mendiola landed the role.
- Kim now stars in another MMFF entry, One Great Love.
The Girl in the Orange Dress is an official entry in 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival. This stars Jessy Mendiola and Jericho Rosales in a spontaneous love story.
Jessy, however, wasn’t the first choice for the lead role.
Jessy, not the first choice.
Movie producer Atty. Joji Alonzo of Quantum Films revealed that Kim Chiu was going to be the leading lady of the movie. When they submitted the entry to the MMFF committee, they still haven’t talked to any actors but put the names they are considering for the role.
They were considering both Kim and Jessy as the leading lady and listed down Jericho, Sam Milby, Tom Rodriguez and Kit Thompson as the leading men.
When they finalized the cast, Jessy and Jericho became perfect and fit for the role. Atty. Joji expressed how glad she was that The Girl in the Orange Dress became another factor for Jessy not to leave the showbiz industry.
Kim gets another role.
One Great Love is another MMFF entry. This stars Kim, Dennis Trillo, JC de Vera, Miles Ocampo and Marlo Mortel. Although she doesn’t want to market the movie as a sex-filled film, this would feature Kim’s first love scene ever. Director Eric Quizon revealed that Kim was admittedly nervous but still did it like a true professional.
“Like what I said, if an actor is sincere and is passionate about the craft, it doesn’t become a challenge. It becomes easy not just for the director and staff, but to the actors involved. Of course, you hear Kim shriek after the scene because she is already anticipating what her fans will think!”
All Metro Manila Film Festival entries will premiere on Christmas Day, December 25.
