Her realization on being part of showbiz industry: “Madaling umakyat, but it’s hard to stay up. It’s hard to stay there.”
After looking back on the years she’’s been part of the entertainment industry, seasoned and multi-awarded actress Dina Bonnevie revealed that she almost quit showbiz for one reason, “There was a time na ayoko mag-artista, nung nauso masyado yung mga pene movies.
“Yung mga super… hindi na bold, e. Bomba na, e. Di ba, yung mga nag-e-exposure ng suso, ng puwet? Nauso yun.
“During that time, I didn’t want.”
It was back in the 80s when the 57-year-old actress just joined the industry and had different successful hit film projects — Underage with Maricel Soriano amd Snooky Serna, and Katorse as her title role opposite the late Alfie Anido and Gabby Concepcion. and Temptation Island with three other beauty queens Azenith Briones, Jennifer Cortez, Bambi Arambulo; all three films were shot in 1980.

Eventually, Bonnie found her place in showbiz when she got a talk-show hosting stint — Let’s Have Dina on IBC-13 in 1988.
“I was so lucky that God gave me the chance to be a talk-show host. If I wasn’t able to reinvent myself as a host, malamang wala na ako sa showbiz.
“But I was lucky na na-reinvent ko yung sarili ko, na na-discover ko may iba pa pala akong talent bukod sa pag-arte. Kaya ko pala mag-host.”

“Of course, pagtanda mo, parang you’ll say it’s a thankless job, kasi parang hindi ka na sikat.
“Pero ganun talaga, e. You can’t always be up there. Kumbaga, yung continuity, yung continuance, yun ang mahirap.
“Madaling umakyat, but it’s hard to stay up. It’s hard to stay there.”
