Last November 8, Kelsey Merritt made history as she became the first-ever Filipino to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway, a dream most Filipino models dreamed of. The Filipino-American model even met her idol and lifelong peg Adriana Lima, who is a Victoria’s Secret Angel for almost 20 years, at the backstage of the show.
“Growing up watching the [Victoria’s Secret] fashion show, I wanted to be like [Adriana Lima]! She is such an inspiration. I can’t believe I get to say I’ve walked the show with her and all the beautiful VS models! [sic],”

Many Filipinos are happy and proud of Merritt including her good friend, Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano. The actress shared on her recent interview with PUSH (Philippines’ Ultimate Showbiz Hub) that she once encouraged Merritt to audition for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
“I am extremely happy for her. Before when we were shooting [for a brand], we were very excited because she was telling me she was going to New York to pursue her modeling career there and I was like, ‘You should audition for Victoria’s Secret. I can imagine you walking on the ‘Pink’ fashion show.’ She was like. ‘Yeah, yeah that’s the goal.’ All of the sudden we found out that she was doing Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”

Soberano also wished a continued success for Merritt and that one day she may become a Victoria’s Secret Angel and have her own wings like Adriana Lima and other VS angels.
“I am so happy because ever since I am a young girl I always watch Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and of course I kinda looked up to the models as well and it’s like she’s living every little Victoria Secret fans’ dream and I am really happy for her and I hope tuloy-tuloy. I hope she becomes an angel and gets her own huge wings in the future.”
